MDOT Assistant Secretary Joe McAndrew on Tuesday joined the Maryland Clean Energy Summit in College Park. He spoke of Maryland's electrification and decarbonization efforts. “It’s a new day for transportation,” he said. “And it has to be when it comes to climate and renewable energy.” The Maryland Department of Transportation is actively working to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and increase renewable energy development. First, through electrification, MDOT is helping support the state’s rapid transition to EVs. We're working to build out Maryland's EV charging infrastructure with National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure funding. Also, the Department is moving forward with strategic planning to build electric chargers along the I-95 corridor for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. And it is pursuing a federal grant with several states to plan and deploy alternative fueling and charging infrastructure along the I-81 and I-78 corridors for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. Join Maryland State Highway Administration this Wednesday for the MD 410 Pedestrian Safety Action Plan Workshop! The State Highway Administration will hold a public informational workshop, 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at DeMatha Catholic High School (Cafeteria), 5905 43rd Avenue, Hyattsville, to show preliminary concepts for the MD 410 safety project. The workshop will provide attendees an opportunity to view project details on maps and displays.

MD 410 (East-West Highway), between MD 212 (Riggs Road) and MD 500 (Queens Chapel Road) in Prince George’s County is planned for safety improvements as part of Maryland State Highway Administration's Pedestrian Safety Action Plan. The Maryland Department of Transportation continues its statewide transportation tour to discuss the Draft FY 2025-2030 Consolidated Transportation Program.
