An ancient stone hand tool was uncovered by a group of volunteer #archeologists under the guidance of Zachary Singer, chief terrestrial archaeologist for the Maryland Historical Trust. MDP and the University of Maryland #UnmannedAircraft Systems Research and Operations Center are partnering on the Eastern Shore Drone Pilot Program project made possible by a $1.7 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The Maryland drone program tackles the lack of access to health care resources in #ruralcommunities on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, delivering medical packages between #Crisfield and #SmithIsland. The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) is an economic development partnership of the federal government and 13 state governments focusing on 423 counties across the Appalachian Region. The Maryland program is directed by Governor Moore, who was recently named States Co-Chair of the ARC, and coordinated by Secretary Rebecca L. Flora, AICP, LEED BD-ND who works closely with Western Maryland economic and community development entities.
