The Maryland Affordable Housing Coalition (MAHC) is a 501(c)6 founded in the Spring 2000 and advocates for resources for affordable rental housing development through sustained or increased funding for established programs, such as the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development's (DHCD) Rental Housing Programs. We also advocate on our own, and with our partners, to promote legislative initiatives that support the development and operation of affordable rental housing communities in Maryland. The Coalition is funded by the generous support of its member and sponsor organizations. MAHC strives to develop and promote "best practices" in conjunction with the Maryland DHCD staff through frequent interactions and trainings. It also provides events and programs that allow the affordable rental housing community to network, share information and best practices, and advance our advocacy mission for affordable rental housing.

  • Thank you to everyone who participated in the MAHC Annual Meeting on Monday. What a wonderful day to honor this year's Housing Award recipients - Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman (Housing Leadership Award), HCAAC CEO & President Clif Martin (Housing Person of the Year Award), and the Prince George's County Dept. of Housing and Community Development (Innovation Award). We would especially like to thank our Panelists and our Panel Moderator Tom Coale for leading two very informative discussions where State and Local leaders discussed how they are working to solve the affordable housing crisis in Maryland and grow our economy through the addition of more affordable housing units. The State has an unprecedented opportunity in the next budget to fund a large pipeline of shovel-ready developments, and we look forward to working with our State and County leaders to get these units under construction.
