Their exceptional response, rapid assessment, and quick recognition of stroke symptoms allowed them to get their patient to the hospital in time for critical treatment. Congratulations to the Mary Washington Hospital Cardiac Surgery team, celebrating 30 years of excellence in heart care! The first open-heart surgery at Mary Washington Hospital was successfully performed on November 6, 1994.

Congratulations to Stafford County Fire and Rescue Engine 9 and Ambulance 9 crew Wyatt Trotman, EMT-P, Ryan Doolin, EMT, and Byron Trafton, EMT, our 3rd Quarter Be Lightning Fast stroke award winners for the fastest door to needle time. The team was dispatched to assist a male patient showing signs of stroke. They quickly alerted Stafford Hospital, where the stroke team was ready to take over upon arrival. Thanks to their swift action and coordination, the patient quickly received clot-busting medication. A big thank you to this dedicated fire and rescue team for their quick response and excellent teamwork!
