Welcome to the fortieth edition of our newsletter, your essential resource as you navigate the rich landscape of nonprofit careers in finance, human resources, operations, and leadership. Nonprofit work presents unique challenges and unparalleled opportunities for deep engagement and substantial personal growth. This fortieth edition highlights Nonprofit Operations job postings that provide valuable insights that foster genuine engagement. This week, we are releasing the 30-day posting, which includes a two-year financial analysis, while the 60-day option adds a three-year analysis plus board and staff demographics. This transparency supports candidates in assessing alignment with the organization’s mission and values, attracting purpose-driven talent committed to equity, inclusion, and sustainability. Last week’s thirty-ninth edition highlighted that unlike annual reports, which provide a retrospective look at a nonprofit’s financial and demographic data, Nonprofit Operations offers nonprofits the chance to speak directly to prospective candidates about where they are now and where they are going. It allows organizations to share the stories behind their numbers—acknowledging the need for greater board diversity to reflect their communities or discussing the steps they take to build financial reserves after learning hard lessons during the pandemic. This platform encourages transparency, enabling nonprofits to outline their challenges and their strategies for improvement, attracting skilled candidates aligned with the organization’s mission and ready to contribute to its future growth in equity, inclusion, and financial sustainability. #NonprofitExcellence?? #CareerGrowth?? #ImpactfulWork https://lnkd.in/evbg-sGV

Driving Financial Stability and Organizational Growth: Strategic Leadership in Finance and HR
关于我们
As a fractional CFO and CHRO across various organizations, I have been deeply involved in strategic and operational management, collaborating closely with senior management to refine accounting processes, direct grant budgeting, and perform detailed financial analysis. My efforts have focused on streamlining operations, strengthening financial planning, enhancing strategic decision-making, significantly boosting organizational efficiency, and ensuring compliance with financial guidelines. I have developed and implemented comprehensive financial and HR strategies that foster sustainability and growth. This includes updating personnel policies and creating efficient hiring processes that support the broader needs of the organizations I've worked with. Additionally, I have secured substantial funding through programs such as the Employee Retention Credit and the Payroll Protection Plan, which has been crucial in securing financial aid and maintaining compliance. My expertise spans various skills, including financial accounting, budget management, strategic leadership, and interim management services, covering economic and HR dimensions. However, I recognize the importance of continuous improvement and see the potential for growth in risk assessment, revenue generation, and equity and inclusion initiatives. My experience highlights the critical role of fractional CFOs and CHROs in maintaining financial stability and driving organizational growth. #Fractional CFO #Fractional CHRO

New data is in, and workers are coming to the office less in 2025, despite RTO mandates. In fact, February office visits are down by 36.3% compared to pre-pandemic levels in February 2019. It just goes to show that people love flexible, remote-first work, and they have good reason to. Remote work has opened steady employment up to millions of women, neurodivergent, and disabled folks who otherwise would be shut out of traditional roles. It's a net positive for our economy, and our society at large. #RemoteWork #RTO #Leadership

One of the best things you can do for your employees? Invest in financial wellness programs and benefits. Sure it can improve productivity by lowering the amount of financial stress your teams are under. It's also just the right thing to do, especially in a nation where financial literacy rates have been consistently slipping for decades. 401k matching is just the tip of the iceberg of the kind of programs you can implement. Things like student loan assistance, debt counseling, and long-term disability can go a long way in helping your employees feel more financially secure. #FinancialLiteracy #FinancialWellness #FinancialJustice

Many candidates focus solely on demonstrating their qualifications and experience when preparing for an interview. However, the interview process should be a two-way street—just as the employer is assessing your fit for the role, you should also evaluate whether the organization aligns with your values and career aspirations. This means paying close attention to how interviewers communicate, the types of questions they ask, and their level of enthusiasm about the role and company. Their responses and demeanor can provide valuable insight into the workplace culture, leadership style, and overall environment you’d be stepping into. One effective way to assess company culture is by asking thoughtful questions about collaboration, decision-making, and employee development. Inquire about how teams work together, what support is available for professional growth, and how leadership fosters an inclusive and supportive workplace. Pay attention to whether interviewers provide specific examples or rely on vague, generic answers—this can indicate how transparent the organization is about its internal dynamics. Additionally, consider asking about work-life balance, company values in practice, and how they handle conflict resolution. Personally, I also want to know if policies are equitably applied across all staff. For instance, if an organization offers sabbaticals, do all employees receive this benefit after an appointed timeframe, or is it reserved only for the executive director? Does the executive director receive extended vacation beyond what’s available to other staff? These policies speak volumes about whether an organization truly values fairness and equity in practice. Beyond the interview, researching employee reviews, networking with current or former staff, and observing company communications can give further insight into what it's genuinely like to work there. A company’s culture is more than what’s written in its mission statement—it’s reflected in how employees are treated, how leadership communicates, and how well the organization supports growth and well-being. For organizations that willfully use the term "justice" in their mission, vision, or communications, I pay close attention to whether they follow that same framework internally. How often are performance evaluations conducted, and are they meaningful or just a formality? What determines salary increases, and what are the parameters for those adjustments? Are they equitable and transparent, or do they favor a select few? Approaching interviews with curiosity and a critical mindset ensures that I make an informed decision—one that aligns with my values and leads to a more fulfilling and sustainable career choice. Onward and upward! #NonprofitStory #NonprofitLeadership? #EquityInHiring? #HR? #Finance? #Operations #ExecutiveDirector? #PersonalThrowback #NewThings? #CultureFit https://lnkd.in/e-KMupyQ

One way companies can put their money where their mouth is this #WomensHistoryMonth is by doubling down on pay equity. Gender equity - including bridging the pay gap and glass ceiling - is an important part of DEI. And an easy way to start is to simply prioritize pay transparency. #PayEquity #DEI #PayGap

Workplace benefits are a key driver for employee retention, satisfaction, and engagement. "Our research shows that workplace benefits are a key driver of employee satisfaction and retention: 89% of employees would feel more invested in staying at their company if it provided financial benefits that meet specific needs, and 94% of employers consider re-evaluating their financial benefits package to be a priority this year." Workplace benefits go beyond offering great insurance - the concept delves into creating an environment that supports your employees' wellbeing. Find opportunities and programs to offer them mental, physical, social, and financial support and education. This fosters more trust, engagement, and job satisfaction. #EmployeeBenefits #WorkplaceCulture #EmployeeRetention #EmployeeEngagement
