关于我们
Martin County is one of 67 counties in Florida and was established by an Act of the Florida Legislature in 1925. It was named for John W. Martin, Governor of Florida from 1925 to 1929. By the authority of the Constitution of the State of Florida, the Martin County Board of County Commissioners shares the functions of government with Martin County’s Constitutional Officers. Martin County’s five Commissioners are each elected to serve a four-year term. These terms are staggered and each member is elected at-large but represents a geographic district within the county. The Chairperson of the Commission is elected annually by the other Board members and presides over all Board meetings. The Board meets on several Tuesdays each month and all meetings are open to the public. The Board of County Commissioners has responsibility for the provision of general government services (fire/rescue, library services, building inspections), oversees the development of infrastructure (roads, utilities, parks), and determines regulations regarding zoning and land use provisions. The Board is also responsible for determining the millage rate (tax on real property) to fund all functions of County government with the exception of the Tax Collector and most court-related functions. The Board of County Commissioners is a policymaking board and they approve the County’s operating and capital budgets, pass ordinances, and take actions that provide for the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Martin County.

Our Parks & Recreation Department continues to be a leader in community involvement. Their afterschool program kicked off with an interactive 'Back to School' activity where students got to know each other through a fun game and teamwork challenge. It was a fantastic way for everyone to connect and build friendships as they dive into a new year of learning and growth together! Martin County Parks & Recreation AfterSchool programs are proudly supported by Children's Services Council of Martin County #MartinCounty

On September 11th, hundreds helped in the Martin County Fire Rescue annual effort to honor & remember the lives lost in the #September11 terrorist attacks 23 years ago. Once again, they marched - flags in hand - from Jock Leighton Park in Palm City, across the Veterans Memorial Bridge, to Indian St & US 1. This time, with the largest crowd yet. We’ll #NeverForget those who died, including the 343 firefighters who sacrificed everything to rescue others and save lives that day. Our hearts continue to go out to the families of the nearly 3000 killed, as well as those affected by this unimaginable tragedy. Thank you to all who helped organize the event, including the Martin County Sheriff's Office, the Martin County Police Athletic League, & the Martin County School District. We also appreciate the attendance and participation of Martin County employees, local school students and staff, as well as numerous community members. #MartinCounty #Florida #FireRescue #NineEleven #groundzero #Firefighters #firstresponders
