Great way to start out the new year. Check out this picture taken in July of the Martian Sky Industries, LLC team at our successful Orbital Prime demo day at the UC IRAS Lab! Thanks to AFWERX and SpaceWERX for supporting the growth and development of our truly novel RPO capability! We have so much more innovation in store for 2025! See you at Space Mobility Conference & Expo/SpaceCom! #Space #AFWERX #SpaceWERX #spacetech #innovation #Prime #justgettingstarted #spacemobility #spacecom #AI #AIforSpace
SpaceWERX leverages the three core programs of AFWERX to identify, acquire, and integrate innovative space capabilities into the United States Space Force. Each program supports SpaceWERX’s innovation in space through specific initiatives: ?? PRIME: Orbital Prime was launched in 2022 to seed advanced technology to accelerate the In-space Servicing, Assembly and Manufacturing (ISAM) mission area, and create favorable market conditions for the emergence of a commercial ISAM marketplace. ?? VENTURES: SpaceWERX utilizes programs such as Open Topic, STRATFI/TACFI, The Space Force Accelerators Program to work with industry, innovators, and private-capital investors to advance essential space technologies in the U.S. Space Force. ?? SPARK: Provides platforms through Challenges, Velocity events, Colliders and Reverse Colliders for our Space Force end-users, acquisition professionals, and engineers to collide and innovate with industry and academia. Your next chance to meet with SpaceWERX to learn more about our programs and available or upcoming opportunities is at the Space Mobility Conference, January 28 - 30 in Orlando, Florida. Mark your calendars and meet us in Booth 1039! Thank you to the SpaceWERX team for coming out and supporting our COVERT demonstration! Thank you also to our partners at the University of Cincinnati for being gracious hosts. We are delighted with how our technology has evolved and look forward to continuing to push the bounds of what is possible for space.
SpaceWERX Orbital Prime awarded company, Martian Sky Industries, hosted a demonstration on July 19 of their computer vision software, COVERT, at the University of Cincinnati. The demonstration was part of their final deliverable under their current Direct-to-Phase II (D2P2) contract. The demonstration concluded with a tour of the research facilities at UC, where attendees viewed the state-of-the-art robotics platforms including a robotic arm to simulate the tumbling profile of a spacecraft on-orbit. Martian Sky utilized UC’s testbed to verify COVERT’s ability to track, identify and label components in real-time of a model spacecraft tumbling at various simulated conditions.?? The demonstration and tour mark another milestone in demonstrating the potential benefits of SpaceWERX investments in maturing In-Space Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing (ISAM) capabilities. The objective of the SpaceWERX Orbital Prime program is to provide seed funding through SBIR/STTR awards to develop a full range of technology to support the ISAM capabilities and to catalyze the commercial ISAM market of the future.
