Today we celebrate 19 Years of excellence. MARSOC was activated on Feb. 24, 2006 after Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld directed the creation of a Marine Corps component inside United States Special Operations Command.? ? ? Happy Birthday Marines! The Marines, Sailors, Civilians of Marine Forces Special Operations Command, along with their families, celebrate the 249th Marine Corps Birthday. The Marine Corps Birthday Ball honors the history and traditions passed down since the founding of the Corps and remembers those who have sacrificed for Corps and Country. This year, the guest of honor was Lt. Gen. Francis L. Donovan, vice commander for U.S. Special Operations Command. Marines in #MARSOC ‘s multi-purpose canine handler course conduct open water swimming and aerial fast-rope training as part of a multi-faceted training pipeline designed to create canine teams capable of completing a variety of missions within special operations. The insertion and extraction training, supported by Marines and aircraft from 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, evaluated MPC students on their techniques on skills learned throughout the course. ?? National Radio Day celebrates the invention of the radio. On this day the U.S. acknowledges the news, information, music, and stories broadcast across our airwaves since the 1920’s. Here at MARSOC we take this opportunity to honor our uniform and civilian communications personnel. Communications is integral and necessary to this organization and its mission. Whether serving at the elbow of a Critical Skills Operator as a Special Operations Capabilities Specialist or gathering satellite intelligence from inside a SCIF, our communications staff are intertwined in almost every aspect of our force. We thank every one of these dedicated individuals and acknowledge their unheralded service.
