"Everyone involved is invested in the mission of providing housing that allows families of all incomes to remain part of the Seattle community. It’s this shared passion and commitment that has enabled us to stay on budget, while making choices that will provide a beautiful and sustainably-built place for folks to call home." - Beacon Pacific Village team member and Associate, Stephanie Farrell, AIA To kick off the Housing Development Consortium of Seattle - King County's (HDC) Affordable Housing Week, we hosted a tour of Beacon Pacific Village with the HDC and Marpac Construction. The upcoming AHW tour on May 17th is sold out. However, you can read about the project's cutting-edge design and sustainable architecture, which supports affordable, family-sized housing and vital community services, in the recent blog post recapping last week's tour from Communities of Opportunity. https://lnkd.in/guKqRVF3 Overview of the project: - Beacon Pacific Village, developed by SCIDpda, will bring 160 homes affordable at 50% and 60% of Area Median Income to North Beacon Hill. - A significant portion of the units are family-sized, with 3- or 4-bedrooms, creating critical housing for multi- and intergenerational families at risk of displacement. - The development also integrates essential childcare and elderly care facilities, supporting the community’s needs and helping to preserve its cultural and social fabric. - The first phase includes a 24,000 square foot facility for a Program for All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) managed by International Community Health Services, and a 10,000 square foot Jose Marti Child Development Center operated by El Centro de la Raza. • #AANHPIHertiageMonth New renovations completed in 2023 and 2024, Eastern Hotel and NP Hotel are both historically significant buildings in the CID. Renovations included seismic, elevator, and energy updates, commercial renovation of Maneki restaurant, and completing new finishes in all 47 affordable units in Eastern Hotel and 62 affordable units in NP Hotel. Built in 1914, NP Hotel originally contained 130 single rooms and 2 street level storefronts. An anchor in the neighborhood, the NP hotel was a popular stopping point for Asian immigrants arriving by rail in Seattle. Built between 1909-1911, the Eastern Hotel played an important social role within the CID Community and housed a series of Seattle’s Chinese and Japanese retail businesses and Filipino cannery workers. Marpac is proud to continually build and support community led and directed development that invests in the future of the CID and Asian American Communities. - - - Owner: InterIm CDA Architect: Rolluda Architects, Inc. • #EarthDay2024 As part of the Seattle Exemplary Building guidelines for reduced energy use for apartment units, the Sawara, North Lot, and Othello Square projects will significantly reduce energy and water consumption. In partnership with Housing Development Consortium of Seattle - King County we are building ultra-efficient affordable housing by using all electric for domestic water heating and other building uses, installing on-site renewable energy generation, and overall improving quality of life for residents. All in different phases of construction, Marpac is proud to create healthy and safe housing that is both affordable and good for our planet. - - - Rendering ??: SKL Architects
