It’s a good day when 1 life is saved and it’s an AMAZING day when 5 walk out of the shelter alive!!! Marley’s Mutts had a little bit of room so of course we had to give a few shelter pups their chance. Pixie, Tommy, Archie, Silas and Presley have all been rescued and are now at our Tehachapi Rescue Ranch settling in, decompressing and ready to start the beginning of their brand new lives. Is there anything more beautiful than the resilience of a survivor? Freedom was rescued as part of the 50+ dog hoarding case in California City.??He and the others lived in deplorable conditions.?Rescues save dogs, instead this “rescue” starved Freedom and the others depriving them of food and forcing them to reside in a tiny wire crates.? That is NOT rescue and we are thankful every day that Saving Gizmos Friends Rescue brought this to law enforcement and Animal Control's attention.?SGFR fought and pushed until every dog was removed. Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue had the honor of saving several dogs, including Freedom. While Freedom’s former ‘rescuer’ is in custody facing charges, Freedom is moving on to a future that looks bright. Woody is such a happy guy and so incredibly joyous to leave those shelter walls behind and head for the comforts of foster care. Fosters give these dogs the chance they need. Dogs who were supposed to be rescued were living a nightmare only the worst dreams are made of. What these poor souls experienced at the hands of their “rescuer” was far more than neglect, it was purposeful abuse. Starved and forgotten they are lucky to be alive and with the help of many they are getting the 2nd chance they should have gotten when they exited shelter doors. Today several will come home to our rescue ranch and begin the long road to recovery. We will heal their bodies and then we’ll do our best to heal their souls. In time, we hope to find them families who will cherish their lives as much as we already cherish them. We can not fathom the horrors they’ve been through, but starting today we promise them a future they almost didn’t have.
