Thank you, Animal Shelter volunteers, for saving these sisters. You helped them avoid being euthanized and now their new mommy is taking it one step further. She's preparing a Pet Trust to help ensure that no matter what happens to her, these cuddling beauties will never go back to a shelter. Wouldn't it be awesome if all dogs and cats had a Pet Trust?

Ready! Set! Go! Sometimes life gets in the way of living. But, if you're ready for action, you can rejoin living your life at any time. And, now after our time away, we're back to get the word out about Pet Trusts. As I continue to learn, life goes on even when we can't. But, you need to have plans in place for those times you can't take care of your fur babies the way you want and they deserve! So, if life gets in the way of living for you one day, your Pet Trust will keep your baby from winding up in a shelter. Don't put this off. Life doesn't stop because you did.

August is Make-a-Will Month! Protect all your babies' futures by preparing or updating your estate planning documents. Your Will states your plans for your children. A Pet Trust states your plans for your fur babies if you become sick, injured, or die. Both documents are important to protect all your babies. Don't delay! Tomorrow could be too late!

Tomorrow is All-American Pet Photo Day! This makes me chuckle! In this era of cell phones with cameras, every day is Pet Photo Day! That is, if you can catch your dog or cat in that extra-cute position or involved in mischief. Here's a photo of my furbabies. Look closely, The cat is inside the box with one leg through a hole the dog had chewed in the box. When the dog gets close to the box, the cat bangs him on the head. This game went on for days! I never tired of seeing them play this way. A box, any box, is the greatest plaything! Well, besides their sister!

Happy Birthday, America! Remember to watch your pets throughout the day to help ensure their good health and safety! Fireworks, crowds, food, and alcohol could pose a risk to your furbabies. Enjoy the day but keep an eye on your furry family!

Yesterday was Ugly Dog Day! I can't imagine any pet parent thinking their fur baby is ugly! Love is blind and when you look at your dog with scraggly hair, a jutting jawline, crooked teeth, and a hanging tongue, you see the love, not the look. So, to all those dogs who won't win a beauty pageant, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and you have nothing to worry about!

On World Pet Memorial Day, remember the dogs and cats you've loved and lost. Honor the special ways they brought joy to your life. If you have a fur baby now, thank them for the love they give you.
