The executive director told us that an employee also shared a moving testimonial of how Chaplain Don Kreider came alongside her as she went through a hard journey when her newborn was diagnosed with cancer. Recently, our chaplains have connected with employees experiencing anxiety about their parents, jobs, the political climate, children, siblings, depression, overwhelming responsibilities, financial pressures, workplace disruptions, and even thoughts of suicide. Our chaplains have been there every step of the way: listening, asking thoughtful questions, reflecting together, and celebrating the good in their lives. They’ve helped employees create actionable steps to move forward, provided resources, offered prayers, and followed up to ensure continued support. Relationships are hard. Marriage is hard. Divorce is hard. Every day our chaplains are on the front lines assisting employees whose lives are falling apart . . . sometimes unexpectedly. * A wife presents an employee with divorce papers and a stern suggestion to leave the house immediately. * An employee reaches out in a panic as he’s facing a potential breakup of a long-term relationship. * Another employee reaches out as they learn their significant other just left them and their children. Our chaplains often drop everything to meet up with employees to listen as they share and vent and try to catch their breath. They offer suggestions, help them prepare for difficult conversations, and try to defuse their anxiety. They help with practical suggestions like sleep, exercise, connecting with supportive people, securing housing, maintaining friendships. They pray for the employees and the situation. We are proud of the empathetic, hard work our chaplains do. Each time they walk into a worksite, they don’t know what to expect. But they are ready. And they are willing and they are making an impact. #relationships #employeecare #marriage

Chaplain Stephanie Shouse, alongside her husband Jeff, visited the Baka people in Cameroon as they transition to an agricultural community due to forest depletion. They’re working hard to empower the Baka community with resources and training to grow their own food, fostering sustainability and self-sufficiency. Today is World Mental Health Day. Mental health and work are deeply intertwined. A supportive workplace fosters mental well-being, providing purpose and stability. However, a lack of support can undermine self-confidence, job satisfaction, and overall productivity. Our chaplains play a vital role in creating safe spaces for employees. Their regular presence encourages open conversations, allowing individuals to share their stories and struggles with someone they trust. We’ve seen the impact firsthand: * Several employees have embarked on their mental health journeys, utilizing available resources. Many have expressed gratitude for the chaplains’ compassionate and non-judgmental approach, which has helped them overcome the fear of seeking help. *One employee, facing suicidal thoughts, found solace in a private conversation with a chaplain. Together, they explored symptoms and life challenges, building a trusting relationship that encouraged the employee to reach out during tough times. *Another chaplain supported a father whose son expressed intentions to "hurt himself." By providing reassurance and resources, the chaplain helped them navigate this difficult situation, leading to a better place for both. *An employee shared feelings of loneliness during an offsite visit, highlighting how stress exacerbated his struggles. He expressed appreciation for the company’s commitment to mental health support, feeling heard and valued. On this World Mental Health Day, let’s continue to prioritize mental health at work and ensure that every employee feels supported.
