    The AI explosion of 2024 has left many in the marketing world wondering 'What's next'? Feeds saturated with filters, AI-generated influencers and AI-generated content have left many craving something altogether more real, raw and honest. So, with a new year looming, we're looking to 2025 with fresh eyes, and a fresh helping of reality. Here's how to embrace the authenticity era in your marketing strategy.?? ?? Gifting is out, rewarding your actual customers is in. Lavish PR gifting, huge press trips, and discounted product offerings for influencers are still a core strategy for some brands (and can work for brand awareness), but when it comes to building trust, relatability and customer-focused messaging, choosing to feature and reward your actual customers is a tactic worth leaning into. Whether it's customer-only events, showcasing customer stories and follower reviews, using customer-generated content or offering your followers loyalty-based offers, 86% of people say that authenticity is a key factor when choosing a brand to purchase from- so give authenticity a go! ?? Content with less of a polished feel often performs better, here's why. We all love content escapism, whether it's a macro-influencer luxury haul, or editorial-style feeds that feel like works of art. When it comes to content that truly connects users to brands, though, polished perfection doesn't always lend itself to reach and engagement. Some of the most engaged brands are filled with raw, fun content, think vlogs that showcase everything going wrong behind the scenes of a brand event, think customer-generated videos filmed in messy settings, think photo dumps without filters, think takeovers on stories by the brand founder when running to the gym between meetings- think real, and you're halfway there already. ?? Use your channels as conversational tools (not one-way channels). When having a conversation, do you participate 50/50, or do you dominate the entire conversation whilst shouting about who you are, what you stand for, and how you work? Hopefully, you choose the participation angle, so now apply this very tactic to marketing. Get your followers, customers and prospective customers involved with your messaging and brand, make them who you are, and ask for their feedback regularly.     We've *just* about come back down to earth following an amazing week in San Francisco at TechCrunch's Disrupt, and now that we've processed the week, we wanted to share our experience, and some things we won't forget! ?? The importance of conferences and expos has never been clearer to us. We were delighted to be picked as one of the 200 startups to exhibit at Disrupt, and our booth offered us so many opportunities. From showing people how our platform works, to creating live videos with users, meeting investors and understanding the use cases for marketers, our little stand was a true highlight of the event. ?? Hearing some of the most exciting names in the investment, startup and marketing world share their expertise?and tips was a unique and unforgettable experience across the 3-day conference, and one thing we've taken home is the 'dream big, aim high' mindset. ??The unwavering and constant support of the incredible TechCrunch team, from the moment we were selected, right through to post-event, and their level of organisation, planning and care has been jaw-dropping, particularly thanks to Michael J Schick & Isabelle Johannessen. ???? Since day one, Enterprise Ireland has been a huge support to us, and we loved meeting the San Francisco-based team Emma Laffey & Ben Cummins, as well as a wonderful evening spent pitching, and getting to know eight other Irish founders and founding teams. ?? Finally, the value of spending solid team time together and making memories away from home has been something we'll never take for granted (and something we hope to do more of in the near future!)     The age of the influencer is dead. The era of community has begun. Here’s why: → People are no longer influenced by polished ads disguised as content. They’re researching, reading reviews, and asking peers. They want genuine insights from real people, not staged experiences. → The influencer model often promotes an unrealistic lifestyle. Community-driven content, on the other hand, is grounded in reality and encourages connection over comparison. → Pouring huge budgets into influencers isn't wooing anyone. The new model is about sharing values-driven content that resonates directly with your community. Whenever I see an influencer on my feed gushing about a 5-star hotel they stayed at or a restaurant they absolutely LOVED, my first thought is that I'm being served an ad. And consumers like me are tired of the glossy, curated content. We’re just not buying it anymore. By the way, I’m not saying influencer marketing is going to end overnight. With a market size valued at over $21 billion, it’s here to stay for now. But the industry is shifting, and brands that prioritise community and authenticity will be the ones to stand out.
