IMA UK was proud to host a discussion at the International Maritime Organization last evening featuring addresses from : Mr T K Ramachandran, IAS, Secretary, Ports, Shipping, and Waterways,? Government of India Shyam Jagannathan, Directorate General of Shipping Chris Shirling-Rooke MBE, CEO Maritime UK, & Amitava (Raja) Majumdar Bose & Mitra & Co. Dr. Jose Matheickal from the IMO very kindly gave the opening welcome, followed by Monica Kohli, Chair of the IMA UK and Akshay Misra Vice Chair at IMA UK. As part of our Cornwall Coastal Powerhouse Summit, the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom and Cornwall Marine Network teams visited Cockwells Modern and Classic Boatbuilding for an insightful tour of their South West shipyard boatbuilding facility. Cockwells is preparing to undertake an exciting programme to modernise and refurbish their build halls, transforming them into efficient and environmentally friendly facilities. This session explored the essential role of infrastructure investment and effective governance in driving sustainable growth across the maritime sector. This panel delved into the latest advancements shaping the maritime sector and how technology and innovation can drive efficiency, sustainability, and growth. This panel focused on the maritime sector's role in achieving net zero, exploring innovative solutions, renewable energy integration, and the steps needed to drive a sustainable future for the industry. In this panel we heard from: - Matt Hodson - Alex King - Andy Hurley MNI - Lucas Lowe-Houghton Our next keynote speaker is Monica Kohli, President of WISTA UK, which is dedicated to attracting and supporting women in management roles across the maritime, trading, and logistics sectors. Monica highlighted the need for more women seafarers and how WISTA is playing a key role in supporting their development.

Robin Mortimer, Chair of Maritime UK, is highlighting the vital role of maritime in supporting 1.1 million jobs and contributing ￡116bn to the UK economy. His speech emphasises the need for greater investment in infrastructure to unlock growth and drive innovation across our coastal communities.
