One of my favorite scenes from an historical movie..... the voting for independence. Ceasar Rodney coming in late after riding all night from Delaware. Ben Franklin speaking for Pennsylvania because John Dickinson had withdrawn because he could not support independence, (although he respected and abided by the decision of his colleagues and served in the Continental Army). An amazing array of men who pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to this endeavor. This is was the crossing of the Rubicon.... there was no turning back after this. Failure meant death at the end of a rope.
