Yesterday, several of our club members had the opportunity to visit Florida Institute of Oceanography in St. Petersburg. FIO is a consortium of universities and institutions from across the state of Florida engaged in oceanographic research and educational opportunities. Our team toured the R/V Western Flyer and learned about the ROV Taurus. Members not only learned about the opportunities in the industry were also inspired with many new ideas as we prepare for the MATE ROV COMPETITION. We have started a go fund me to help support our efforts towards robotics education and marine environment awareness. We will be competing in the MATE ROV COMPETITION this year and would appreciate donations to help us manufacture/build our underwater remote operated vehicle (ROV).
