First of its kind deployment of Marine cyber forces to the INDO-PACOM Theater U.S. Marine Corps Forces Cyberspace Command (MARFORCYBER) | DVIDS, March 22, 2024, Major Zach Leuthardt OKINAWA, Japan, -- Marines assigned to U.S. Marine Corps Forces Cyber Command deployed to Okinawa, Japan as part of the inaugural iteration of a new cyber rotational force concept. The cyber rotational force concept brings experts in defensive cyber operations to assist tactical and operational units stationed with geographic combatant commands. “Cyber defense is crucial, and as our capabilities continually mature, it is important that we support the warfighters and units tasked with ensuring our competitive edge throughout the globe,” said Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Ryan P. Heritage, the commander of MARFORCYBER. “Ensuring we have the skills and resources to maintain resilient, reliable networks to support rapid decision making at every level is at the heart of what we do. This is just another step in realizing that goal.” Full story: https://lnkd.in/eCHGan3x Marine Corps Cyberspace Warfare Group #Ready #Relevant #Lethal

As the crisp leaves of autumn blanket the ground and the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, we pause to express our sincerest gratitude to our fellow cyber warriors. Time and again, our team delivers outstanding results “Owning the Domain” in the face of high operational pressure. This holiday season, we celebrate the strength that lies within each of our members as we advance together. Thanksgiving serves as a time of appreciation for the sacrifices made by the talented men and women in our organization, particulary those stationed away from loved ones in service of our nation. Embrace this holiday as an opportunity to honor their dedication and send love to those in far-off places. From our blue-screened hearts to yours, Happy Thanksgiving! #Thanksgiving #USCYBERCOM #WeWinWithPeople

“They’re on our left, they’re on our right, they’re in front of us, they’re behind us…they can’t get away this time.” - Lt. Gen. Lewis B. “Chesty” Puller Today marks the anniversary of the start of the Battle of The Chosin Reservoir. More than 30,000 service members from the United States alongside a coalition of troops from Allied nations fought their way through the harsh, frozen terrain of the man-made Chosin Reservoir while battling a force of over 120,000 Chinese soldiers. Ultimately, the Marines of 1st Marine Division, having fought to the complete exhaustion of their resources, dangerously low on ammunition, and with no chance of reinforcement, were forced to fight their way out of that frozen reservoir and towards the port at the Hungnam Perimeter. The Marines fought constantly throughout the 17 days of the battle and eventually, made their way to the port of Hungnam, where the Marines were able to complete their withdrawal alongside other UN troops and thousands of Korean refugees. 13 Medals of Honor were awarded during the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir, 10 of them to United States Marines. #USMC #MarinesoftheCorps #USMCHistory

Director, CISA: America's Cyber Defense Agency (Personal Account)

Since 2021, we’ve hired over 2000 new teammates at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, including some truly world class technical experts—folks who could be making big bucks in the private sector but have chosen to serve their fellow citizens as part of America’s Cyber Defense Agency. I’m particularly proud of our Red Team, led by Paul Brandau. At the request of critical infrastructure organizations, the team simulates (at no cost) real-world malicious cyber operations to assess their cybersecurity detection & response capabilities. In coordination with an assessed organization, we just released a Cybersecurity Advisory detailing one of the Red Team’s recent efforts—including their tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) and associated network defense activity. It also includes lessons learned to provide recommendations to network defenders and software manufacturers for improving their organizations’ and their customers’ cybersecurity posture. Check it out at https://lnkd.in/eNbyij6R. Feedback welcome!

Commander, Marine Corps Cyberspace Warfare Group

Cyberspace Leadership: Upholding the Marine Corps Tradition Leading the Marine Corps Cyberspace Warfare Group (MCCYWG), I’m privileged to collaborate with a dedicated command team that punches above its weight class. Together, we focus on several pivotal roles: generating and sustaining the United States Marine Corps’ cyber mission forces and deploying cyber forces worldwide to address adversarial threats and enable Fleet Marine Forces through MCCYWG; enabling the United States Department of Defense to project power in and through cyberspace via our Joint Mission Operations Center; enabling a resilient and empowered workforce operating as the Force Headquarters Group (FHG); and training international partners to strengthen global cyber defense capabilities. This year, the FHG team took the lead in planning and executing the U.S. Marine Corps Forces Cyberspace Command (MARFORCYBER) 249th Marine Corps Birthday Ball. Under the leadership of Major General Jay Matos, we were honored to host prominent figures such as the evening’s guest of honor, Lieutenant General (retired) Lori Reynolds—my former boss—and General Tim Haugh, Commander of U.S. Cyber Command (USCYBERCOM) and Director of the National Security Agency. Former MARFORCYBER Commander and USCYBERCOM J3, Major General Ryan Heritage and several other distinguished guests also enhanced the celebration. It was a highlight to connect with the past, present, and future commanders of Combat Mission Team One, which I previously commanded. As we conclude the birthday celebration season, Trish, I, and everyone at MCCYWG, the Joint Mission Operation Center, and Force Headquarters Group extend a warm Happy Birthday to Marines past, present, and future! Army Cyber making moves to improve readiness November 21, 2024, DefenseScoop https://lnkd.in/g2rq93nC The Army has sought to improve the training of cyber mission force members it provides to U.S. Cyber Command such that they require less on-the-job instruction. “Some of the other things that Gen. Haugh has been talking about, like training to the left, so that more of the soldiers in the CMF when they come out of the schoolhouse don’t require as much or any additional training in order to perform their work role,” Lt. Gen. Maria Barrett, commander of ARCYBER, said in an interview. “The Army, a while ago, aligned its coursework to do … all of the 1000-level tasks and as many of the 2000-level tasks as it could in order to do that. It just didn’t make any sense where we have the majority of the cyber forces in the CMF, why would we insert unique service requirements into the schoolhouse training? First take care of the joint requirements. There is a very strong alignment between the curriculum in the [Cyber Center of Excellence] and the requirements that Cyber Command has put out.”

Beware of Pig Butchering Scams! They lure you in with fake investments and promises of huge profits, but it's all a scheme to steal your money. Stay alert, do your research, and never trust unsolicited investment opportunities. Some tips to help avoid falling victim to pig butchering scams are: 1. Be cautious of unexpected contacts: Scammers often initiate contact through texts, social media messages, or dating apps, claiming it was a mistake. Be wary of unsolicited messages from strangers. 2. Watch for a slow build: Scammers will spend time building a relationship, sharing personal stories, and gaining your trust before introducing investment opportunities. 3. Beware of investment pitches: If the conversation shifts to investment opportunities, especially in cryptocurrency, be skeptical. Scammers often claim to have insider knowledge or connections to lucrative investments. 4. Verify credentials: Always verify the credentials of the person and the investment platform they recommend. Research the platform and check for reviews or complaints. 5. Avoid sharing personal information: Scammers may ask for personal or financial information. Do not share sensitive details with someone you've just met online. 6. Look for red flags: Be cautious if the person becomes overly friendly too soon, avoids video calls, or pressures you to invest quickly. 7. Do your own research: Independently research any investment opportunities and consult with a financial advisor before making any decisions. 8. Report suspicious activity: If you suspect you're being targeted by a scam, report it to the appropriate authorities and block the scammer. Protect yourself and share to spread awareness!? #FraudPrevention #StaySafeOnline #WeAreAlwaysInTheFight
