With Thanksgiving around the corner, keep fats, oils, and grease out of your drain. #TrashTheGrease. After the turkey’s done and the gravy’s gone, pour your drippings or oily leftovers into a sealed container and place it in your trash. Keep that grease out of the drain! #WipeBeforeWashing. Before rinsing plates and pans, give them a quick wipe with a paper towel to capture any leftover grease. Then, toss the paper towel in your compost cart. #GoEasyOnTheDisposal. Use the disposal to clear standing water in your sink, not to grind food bits! Food scraps belong in the cart. #CompostFoodScraps. Collect veggie peels, rice, and all other food scraps in a brown paper bag, roll down the top and drop it in your compost cart. Keep food from clogging your drains! Thank you for keeping our wastewater system running smoothly. #HappyThanksgiving

For five years, System Operator II #JoshuaGoncalves has been a great asset to the Marina Coast Water District Operations and Maintenance Department. As our lead water quality sampler, Josh has taken the water quality samples over the past several years with great consistency, accuracy, dependability, and attention to detail. This critical function requires strictly following correct sampling methods and procedures that are key to ensuring your water is always safe and keeping the District in regulatory compliance. In addition to sampling, Josh performs the normal roles of a System Operator II and is always willing and ready to help #repair a water main, #service a line break, or #respond_quickly to a sewer spill. He has taken an active role in gaining training and certifications and currently holds several advanced certifications: ? SWRCB Water Distribution Operator Grade III ? SWRCB Water Treatment Operator Grade II ? CWEA Collection System Maintenance Grade III ? CWEA Mechanical Technologist Grade I Josh has a positive attitude and is ready to help at any given notice. He shows #enthusiasm and #pride in what he does. With great pleasure we recognize Josh for five years of service to the District.

Electrical/Mechanical Technician Rene Magdaleno installs a new "automatic transfer switch" (ATS) to ensure uninterrupted power during PG&E outages. The ATS seamlessly switches a power source from the utility grid to a backup generator ensuring an uninterrupted electricity supply. At Marina Coast Water District we provide high-quality potable and recycled water, wastewater collection, and conservation services that are safe and reliable. #SafeAndSecure

?? Keep Fats, Oils, & Grease Out of Sinks & Drains! ?? ?? Dispose of #FOG in your trash cart: Let it cool, seal it in a disposable container, and toss it in! ?? Food scraps go in the green yard waste bin: This includes all food waste, like meat, bones, and uncoated paper (like greasy paper towels). ?? Use your disposal wisely: It’s for clearing standing water, not grinding up food! Learn more about preventing #FOG clogs at https://lnkd.in/g5sxrr_q

During Fall, your garden's watering needs change. Cooler weather means less water evaporates during the day. Your lawn and plants also get less sunlight and grow more slowly, so their roots take up less water. You should water less often in cooler weather by adjusting your automatic irrigation controller from 2-3 times in the summer to 1-2 times in the fall. See our #LandscapeWateringGuides at https://lnkd.in/gaCt7hyq with recommended run times to assist in managing your watering schedule. #thankyouforconservingwater

PG&E has announced a #planned_power_shutoff for some customers across the state from Thursday through Saturday in order to reduce wildfire risks. While this outage is not expected to affect our customers, we want to assure you that the District is prepared for PG&E power outages. We have proactively installed permanent generators with automatic switchover at all critical water and sewer facilities. The District has also obtained portable power generators for other facilities and is able to communicate with and monitor its water and sewer facilities remotely at all times. These generators provide power to ensure adequate water storage capacity to meet drinking and firefighting needs. #The_District_is_prepared and your water and wastewater will keep flowing even if your power goes out. Water is the lifeblood of California and without safe and reliable water, no community and no sector of the economy – from tech to agriculture to tourism – can thrive or expand. Thanks to #technological_advances, your drinking water is filtered, cleaned, tested, and distributed in a process that is carefully managed by highly trained water professionals. Marina Coast Water District provides an ample supply of water to its customers and is collaborating with its neighbors to provide enough recycled water to meet one-half of the Peninsula's water needs. We are also exploring additional water sources to sustainably meet our customers' long-term needs. Thank you MCWD #waterprofessionals who plan for the future, maintain and upgrade their systems, and improve the safety and resiliency of local water supplies for their communities.
