November is National Long-Term Care Awareness Month This month is the perfect opportunity to learn more about long-term care, its importance, and the growing need for these essential services. Long-term care provides support for individuals who need help with daily activities due to aging, illness, or disability—and the demand for it is rising. ?? Here are 5 key facts about long-term care: 1?? Americans are living longer thanks to advances in medical care. In 2019, the life expectancy for those reaching age 65 averaged 20 additional years. 2?? By 2030, 1 in 5 U.S. residents will be 65 or older. 3?? Currently, 14 million Americans need long-term support services—a number expected to grow to 27 million by 2050. 4?? Long-term care can be expensive, with average out-of-pocket costs of $140,000 and roughly 17% of individuals spending over $100,000. 5?? By 2040, cases of Alzheimer’s and related dementias are expected to nearly double, affecting 13 million Americans—8.5 million women and 4.5 million men. Let’s raise awareness about the importance of planning for long-term care and supporting those who provide these critical services. Together, we can build a community of care and compassion for our aging population. #LongTermCareAwareness #AgingWell #SupportAndCare #MarinCommunityClinics
