关于我们

We are a team of scientists, designers, and contractors working in collaboration with a network of engineers, scientists, artists, artisans, and community leaders to bring the highest performance ecological systems online in landscapes specifically designed to regenerate and celebrate intact natural systems teeming with life. We work in natural areas, parks, trails, and waterfronts, for municipal, agency, tribal, non for profit, educational, commercial, and residential clients. We offer comprehensive land management and design services in a mix of digital and hand-drawn formats. We work in natural, locally, and sustainably collected materials (mainly stone and wood) to construct landscape systems that integrate stormwater infrastructure, soil management, and planting plans that use the native plants' best-suited site with the most diversity feasible, for the broadest ecological benefit. Ecological engineering, biomimicry, and biotechnical stabilization are hidden intricacies of the work. We build these landscapes with a combination of our own ecological artisans and subcontractors.

Mike Marek was honored to be in the boat with the Friends of Lakeshore State Park and help push the boat to Silver! This is what community and place are all about. We couldn't be more proud of our city and our community where gorgeous weather, a rich culture, and a beautiful landscape and skyline come together to bring brilliance to our hearts, a little sweat, lots of smiles, and plenty of freshwater! "Our mission is to showcase a variety of Chinese culture, food and traditions. Throughout the festival, there will be performances in traditional dance, Chinese folk music and Martial Arts. There will be hands-on opportunities for the young and young-at-heart to make opera masks and lanterns, play traditional games, participate in a dragon parade, and even learning to speak and write Chinese" https://lnkd.in/gpkbJ3FT

This past weekend, the Friends of Lakeshore State Park team participated in the Milwaukee Dragon Boat Festival—a celebration of Chinese culture and tradition. Hosted by the Milwaukee Chinese Community Center in partnership with the Wisconsin Chinese Chamber of Commerce, this festival brought together our community to enjoy traditional dance, music, and, of course, the Dragon Boat Races. We are proud to announce that our team, Fishful Thinking, earned a silver medal in our bracket! ?? The races were held in the beautiful lagoon at Lakeshore State Park, showcasing our park as a premier venue for community events. During the opening ceremony, our Board President David Wenstrup had the honor of "dotting the eye" of the dragon. This symbolic act awakens the dragon and brings it to life for the race. With over 50 boats in the race, including teams from some of Milwaukee's leading companies, this event was a true reflection of the strong corporate and community spirit that drives our city. We were thrilled to connect with so many local businesses who share our commitment to community engagement, cultural celebration, and environmental stewardship. #MilwaukeeEvents #CommunityEngagement #CulturalCelebration #DragonBoatFestival #CorporatePartnerships #UrbanPark #Teamwork

Each year for the past 14 years Marek has helped with the MMSD Fresh Coast Internship training with our partners at @CleanWisconsin. The team consists of ambitious environmental scientists and civil engineering students who apply to the program. This is an amazing program ensuring that we enlist and inspire driven professionals to our practice. Mike Marek leads a day of classroom training at our office on all things Green Infrastructure followed by a day of field work disconnecting downspouts, adding rain barrels, and installing a rain garden with the team. For some it might be their first time using a spade, wheelbarrow, or garden rake. These skills, this tactile process, is part of the training- connecting with the earth quite literally in a process of stewardship and care. Conveying the “why” is our favorite part though and the piece that brings the most pride. We are honored to pass along our knowledge, expertise, and passion on how to help ‘Slow the Flow’ of rainwater through our city with the use of these simple and practical solutions. Protecting the Great Lakes is at the heart of all we do, and this training is one of the most important projects of the year to ensure we are having as big of a positive impact as possible. We learn more every year through their curiosity, great questions, and drive. We get as much as we give from this program and always come away with renewed motivation and hope for the future of the Fresh Coast.
