“There cannot be ‘U.S. energy dominance’ and $50 per barrel oil; those two statements are contradictory: “At $50-per-barrel oil, we will see U.S. oil production start to decline immediately and likely significantly (1 million barrels per day plus within a couple quarters). This is not ‘energy dominance.’ The U.S. oil cost curve is in a different place than it was five years ago; $70 per barrel is the new $50 per barrel.” (continued) See also: ● “Uncertainty permeated responses to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas’ quarterly Energy Survey, where the uncertainty index climbed 21 points to 43.1 for the quarter.” (continued) Source: “Uncertainty dominates Dallas Fed energy survey,” MRT, 3/26/25 LINK: https://lnkd.in/gUdSMbsY #energy #energyindustry #energypolicy #oil #oilindustry #oilgas #oilandgas #natgas #naturalgas #hydrocarbons Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas #oilprice #shale #shaleoil #shalegas #WTI #commodities #tariffs #trade #tradepolicy #TexasEconomy #NewMexicoEconomy #LouisianaEconomy #OklahomaEconomy #ColoradoEconomy #UtahEconomy #NorthDakotaEconomy #WyomingEconomy #WestVirginiaEconomy #OhioEconomy #PennsylvaniaEconomy https://lnkd.in/gZgdcA7C

The federal regulatory attacks on gas stoves, water heaters & other appliances have been suspended: “U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright today announced the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has further postponed the implementation of three of the Biden-Harris administration’s restrictive mandates on home appliances. “These actions, taken in accordance with President Donald Trump’s Executive Order, ‘Unleashing Prosperity through Deregulation,’ marks a key step in lowering costs, enhancing performance, and expanding options for American consumers. “ ‘Under President Trump’s leadership, the Department of Energy is taking critical steps every day to help American families prosper,’ said Secretary Wright. ‘By removing burdensome regulations put in place by the Biden administration, we are returning freedom of choice to the American people, ensuring consumers can choose the home appliances that work best for their lives and budgets. This power should not belong to the federal government.’ “The Department’s notices officially postpone the effective dates for three home appliance rules: ● Test Procedures for Central Air Conditioners and Heat Pumps; ● Efficiency Standards for Walk-In Coolers and Freezers; and ● Efficiency Standards for Gas Instantaneous Water Heaters. “In addition, under the leadership of President Trump, the Department has officially withdrawn four conservation standards, including standards on electric motors, ceiling fans, dehumidifiers, and external power supplies. This continued commitment to the American people will slash unnecessary red tape and regulations that raise prices, reduce consumer choice, and frustrate the American people.” ● The DOE’s new X feed is here: LINK: https://x.com/energy?s=21 ● Policy change announcement on X: LINK: https://lnkd.in/gxzZANKf #energy #energyindustry #energypolicy #oilgas #oilandgas #natgas #naturalgas #propane #buildingcode #construction #residentialconstruction #efficiencystandards https://lnkd.in/gzvnhP-R

“Shell was the first company to export natural gas in liquefied form by ship, in 1964. Today, it is one of the largest suppliers of LNG around the world, and a particularly big player in the U.S. It expects its LNG sales to grow by 4%-5% per year through the end of the decade. “ ‘We believe LNG will be one of the most durable energy vectors through the energy transition, with very attractive growth prospects,’ said CEO Wael Sawan. “Oil is expected to fall from nearly 50% of Shell’s sales to less than 40% by 2030. Though it trails behind today, natural gas’s sales will roughly equal oil’s by 2030, the company said.” (continued) Prior relevant MLR posts: ● “Shell's bet on gas boom takes shape with string of deals,” Reuters, 7/12/24: LINK: https://lnkd.in/g2XUfcdk ● “Europe Snaps Up U.S. LNG as Higher Prices Divert Cargoes From Asia,” Oilprice, 1/23/25 (includes Venture Global LNG news links): LINK: https://lnkd.in/gHaXnBEu ● “EU To Endorse German Plan to Subsidize 10 GW New Gas Power Capacity,” Oilprice, 6/7/24: LINK: https://lnkd.in/g7vZntfK ● “U.S. LNG Industry Prepares for Boom Years Under Trump,” Oilprice, 1/14/25: LINK: https://lnkd.in/gDJxbEES #energy #energyindustry #oilgas #oilandgas #natgas #naturalgas #hydrocarbons #LNG #pipelines #midstream #exports #trade #commodities #Louisiana #Haynesville #Haynesvilleshale #Woodfordshale #Permian #PermianBasin #Eagleford #BarnettShale #Shipping #TransAtlantic #bakken https://lnkd.in/gTffkemx

“India’s energy needs are consistently growing, leading to higher oil imports. This is fuelled by factors such as growing energy-intensive industries, increased vehicle sales, a rapidly expanding aviation sector, growing consumption of petrochemicals, and a rising population.” (continued) See also: ● “India Takes the Lead in Oil Demand Growth,” Tsvetana Paraskova, Oilprice[dot]com, 12/26/24: “India surpassing China as the world’s top driver of oil demand growth isn’t surprising at all. In spite of headwinds from trade disputes, inflationary pressure and OPEC & national energy policy to ease gas prices further, US onshore drilling activity is remaining relatively unchanged: “Energy-dedicated software-as-a-service firm Enverus said its U.S. rig count jumped seven rigs to 582 rigs for the week ended March 14. The count is still down 34 rigs or 6% from 616 rigs a year earlier. The number of rigs drilling for crude fell two rigs to 168 rigs from 170 rigs and is down 197 rigs or 54% from 365 rigs the previous year. The number of rigs drilling for natural gas climbed seven rigs during the week to 89 rigs but is down 52 rigs or 37% from 141 rigs the previous March.” (much more info at link) See also: ●?"New Oil Projects Set to Flood Market in 2025," Irina Slav, Oilprice[dot]com, 3/23/25: "[W]hy it is necessary to boost production at all if demand is indeed so much weaker than before. The answer was recently provided by none other than the head of the International Energy Agency, Fatih Birol. "At CERAWeek, Birol said that the world needs upstream investments in existing oil and gas fields to support global energy security. Many saw these remarks as a stark departure from his usual refrain over the past few years, which has focused on the perceived success of the energy transition that would eliminate the need for hydrocarbons pretty soon. Indeed, that’s exactly what they were. " 'I want to make it clear . . . there would be a need for investment, especially to address the decline in the existing fields,' Birol said. 'There is a need for oil and gas upstream investments, full stop,' he added. This is the same man who said four years ago we could stop exploring for new production of oil and gas—as of 2021—because we would not need them by 2030." “[S]ources told Reuters that recent, hefty overproduction from Kazakhstan angered other members and was one of the deciding factors that ultimately led the group to proceed with the hike. “Under the revised plan, Iraq will make the bulk of the contribution to the compensation cuts followed by Kazakhstan and Russia. “The plan also sees Saudi Arabia, one of the main stalwarts of adhering to the OPEC+ deal, making small compensation cuts of 6,000 to 15,000 bpd over a period of three months. “Kazakhstan has been producing at a record high as U.S. oil major Chevron expands output at the largest Kazakh oilfield, Tengiz.” #energy #energyindustry #oil #oilindustry #oilgas #oilandgas #oilprice #hydrocarbons #WTI #Brent #OPEC #commodities https://lnkd.in/gnVhvbGy

“ ‘Previous studies of oil residues have suggested that resins stabilize asphaltene molecules, highlighting their strong molecular affinity,’ says Edwin Guevara Romero, a researcher in Sarathy's lab. ‘This led us to hypothesize that blending asphaltenes with resins could create a synergistic feedstock for carbon fiber production.’ “In laboratory tests, such asphaltene-resin blends were found to flow better than asphaltenes alone, allowing them to be spun at lower, more energy-efficient temperatures. The fibers were also less prone to breakage after carbonization, resulting in performance similar to that of existing moderate-to-high-strength isotropic carbon fibers.” #energy #energyindustry #oil #oilindustry #oilgas #oilandgas #natgas #naturalgas #hydrocarbons #refining #chemicalengineering #petroleumengineering #carbonfiber https://lnkd.in/gTrupfkV

"The Ohio Senate unanimously approved a measure Wednesday overhauling much of the state’s energy sector. The chief goal of the proposal is to encourage investment in new, primarily gas-fired, power plants as the state’s energy demands skyrocket. But as part of the bill, lawmakers made broad changes to the way to utilities bill customers. (. . .) "But perhaps most notable, the bill eliminates the legacy generation rider — a surcharge devised to prop up two aging coal plants that are part of the Ohio Valley Electric Corporation. That controversial rider was part of 2019’s Ohio House Bill 6 which was at the heart of a massive bribery scheme that landed former House Speaker Larry Householder in federal prison with a 20-year sentence. [!!] "So far, the legacy generation rider has cost ratepayers about half a billion dollars."
