Building off the hype surrounding NYC Marathon weekend, Brooks & Marathon Kids created an unforgettable experience for an entire 4th grade class at a school in the Bronx. Students received new running gear AND a special (+ unforgettable) visit from Des Linden & Kara Goucher. Many miles were logged, and endless smiles were had! For nearly 30 years, the evidence-based Marathon Kids program has empowered children to set and achieve big goals through the sport of running. On October 16th, Marathon Kids was honored to place 3rd at Philanthropitch, receiving an incredible total of $20,490 in donations! ???? ?? $5,490 from the audience & judges ?? $5,000 from Justworks ?? $10,000 from Favor Delivery. Our Chief Operating Officer, Shayna Dunitz, delivered an inspiring pitch, highlighting the critical need to address the fact that fewer than 24% of kids in the U.S. get the recommended 60 minutes of daily physical activity. At Marathon Kids, we’re not the only nonprofit tackling this challenge, but we are the ONLY one with an evidence-based platform proven to create long-term behavior change—and we’re proud to be making an impact in all 50 states. Marathon Kids has come a long way since starting right here in Austin in 1995. Last year, we inspired 240,000 kids to run over 5 million miles! ??♀???♂?
