Spot the Difference! "Before" and "After" fa?ade photos from our recently completed Victorian Warehouse Conversion project in Bermondsey. The warehouse has been remodelled internally to create three individual residential units. The warehouse was historically part of a terrace, however, later came to feature a forgotten end plastered wall, where bins were left below. This end elevation now been transformed with the wall re-built with London Stock Brick and featuring a large picture bay window on first floor gives added interest to the street. The front elevation has also been upgraded with the addition of new lime mortar, creating a uniformity across all facades. Windows have been replaced and redecorated, modernising the building's exterior. You can view more details about this project on our website.

We believe our work should have a lasting and positive impact.
关于我们
In 2017, MAP Architecture was officially launched. The ethos of the company is simple - to create beautiful and functional buildings that have a positive social and environmental impact. Rob Mawson and Matthew Parker met in 2010 during their Masters in Architecture at the University of Sheffield. It was their strong sense of motivation and passion for making that led them to Nicaragua to build their first project, the Balgue Community Centre. Since then, they have continued to collaborate on a number of voluntary projects and private commissions, while independently gaining experience working for highly regarded architectural practices in London. What MAP offers: We provide an open-mind, enthusiasm and a hands-on approach to all our work. We are passionate about the craft of building and believe that every project should intrinsically respond to its physical and social context. By working closely with, and listening attentively to, our clients we fully identify their requirements before presenting creative and innovative design solutions. The same attention and dedication is given to every project from beginning to end with the aim to create architecture of the highest quality at the lowest possible economic and environmental cost.

Lovely article here about one of our recently completed projects at Alleyn's School. We will be posting about this in the weeks to come, but this article kind of sums up why we love working on school projects.
We are pleased to have opened All Studios, a cutting-edge facility designed to reshape how students engage with learning, technology, and creativity. This milestone moment is part of our Future of Learning initiative, ensuring that Alleyn’s is well positioned to embrace the digital transformation in education and blend it with traditional pedagogy. ?? Four purpose-designed studios fostering innovation and collaboration ?? Access for Alleyn’s Senior and Junior Schools + 35 partner schools ?? Home to Alleyn’s Intelligence Quotient (AiQ)—a curriculum shaping the skills and ethical frameworks students need for the future. As Mrs Jane Lunnon shared at the launch: "Our aim is to seamlessly integrate tech across all aspects of school life, enhancing the high-quality teaching and learning Alleyn’s is known for." All Studios isn’t just a space—it’s a vision for what education can be. We can’t wait to see what our students create and discover in this space. It wouldn't be a social media end of year without some photos of our Christmas Party! ?? ?? We started with a very inspiring visit to the newly retrofitted Arding & Hobbs building in Clapham, went on to the Battersea Power Station ice rink where everyone tried hard not to fall, and ended with too much food at Dishoom ?? All in all, a glorious day! ?? #ChristmasParty #Architecture #LondonArchitects

Really enjoyed working with a great team across two practices (and countries!) to complete this conversion of a three-storey Victorian warehouse building in Bermondsey. MAP Architecture was responsible for the technical delivery of the project working alongside B-Bis Architects in Belgium as the concept architects. The project has delivered three apartments in a conservation area, with the south external wall of the building (which was historically part of a terrace) incorporating a new industrial style picture bay window. Each apartment has its own atmosphere however the general aesthetic expresses the existing features of the warehouse building internally, while incorporating bespoke timber carpentry and stainless-steel fittings. We had a lot of fun putting together sketch options for a compact and cost effective #school building! ???? We usually see our projects through all stages (from concept design, to planning, technical detailing and construction), but this is always a brilliantly creative stage, full of possibility. We've been doing concept deisgn and masterplanning for several schools recently and enjoying it a lot. Some snaps of the exquisite geometry in our recently completed warehouse conversion in Bermondsey conservation area. The project concerns the renovation of three separate flats on ground, first and second floor in a converted three-storey Victorian warehouse building. Each apartment has its own unique characteristic, however the general aesthetic expresses the existing building features of the warehouse internally, while incorporating highly bespoke timber carpentry and stainless-steel fittings. Very excited to see professional photos of this recently completed residential new build in Chelsea #Conservation Area?? The project replaced a derelict and overgrown post-war house, transforming it into a well-proportioned end-of-terrace property that maximized the site’s potential and enhanced the local streetscape. As with all our projects, #sustainability & energy efficiency was a key feature of the development. The property is heated by an air source heat pump and features a Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) system for comfort cooling and pre-conditioned, filtered air throughout the property. Green roofs and extensive planting have been integrated to reduce surface water run-off and enhance the local #biodiversity. Interesting Read: The RIBA and Fee Scales Debate Very insightful article by the RIBA discussing why they had to stop publishing fee scales due to competition laws. This issue was reignited at last week’s RIBA Guerrilla Tactics Conference, where several speakers advocated for higher fees and the potential reintroduction of fee scales to address the persistent problem of low fees and salaries within the profession. The argument from the conference speakers is compelling: many architects are leaving the profession for other roles, citing work-related stress, long hours, and low pay (especially when compared to the time taken to quality)—challenges often tied directly to unsustainably low fees. Some suggested moving towards a value based fee model, rather than time based, especially with the adoption of AI. Others considered ‘Protection of Function’ for the architect as in other European countries and even stopping work in the later stages of a project to improve efficiencies and reduce workplace stress. Interested in your thoughts!
