Love is universal! Last week we had the opportunity to participate in a Galentines event hosted in collaboration with Thrive International, World Relief Spokane, International Rescue Committee Spokane, and Feast World Kitchen. More than 100 immigrant and refugee women representing over 14 countries, as well as a diversity of cultures and ages, came together to enjoy games, food, and a health-related workshop. Without legal representation, unaccompanied migrant children are much more likely to be deported. Last week Alvaro De la Cruz-Correa, our MILA Legal Advocate for Unaccompanied Children Program, received a stop work order, which was rescinded two days later. Samantha Walters, our Community Group Manager, had the honor of being present for a Teatime participant's birth. She was asked to attend in order to offer her a sense of safety and support.
