MCCV continues to convene industry and regional partners! Our recent meeting at Modesto Junior College (MJC) marked a significant milestone in that it was our first on-campus event and the re-launch of our workforce development committee. Following a tour of the School of Industry and Trades, MJC President Brian Sanders, Ed.D. led us through a productive dialog about expanding trade and technical offerings. Creating stronger connections between the manufacturing sector and educational institutions is one way MCCV will contribute to a stronger manufacturing workforce. Next stop: San Joaquin Delta College on April 16th! #MCCV #CentralValleyMfg #CAManufacturing #CentralValleyBusiness #MadeInCentralValley #CentralValleyJobs #ValleyWorkforce
Thought for the day: Is my job to sit in my office, send emails, and meet with leaders to plan activities and initiatives for Modesto Junior College? Or is it to attend activities and get out to participate in initiatives for the college? When you get to the end of the day and couldn’t finish the one email you started at 8 am, but your day was packed with great stuff, you wonder. But I strive to be present and support the rich variety across MJC. Today? Met with the Manufacturer’s Council of the Central Valley to tour our School of Industry and Trades. Wow, they said, I didn’t know you had all this! We didn’t three years ago, but we’ve come a long way. Working with the MCCV to expand training for local manufacturers. Then attended a Puente event to learn how to promote sentipentante and cari?o in our programs. The speaker was Dr Laura Rendon, who I briefly quoted in my own dissertation a decade ago. Great stuff! I attended the School of Language Arts and Education Visiting Author series to hear from one of our faculty, a student, and an author from Fresno State’s creative writing program. Fascinating! Finished the evening with the four members of our guitar faculty serenading the audience with an amazing collection of songs. Long but great day!
