It’s Back to School season! ??? ?? Wednesday was the first day of courses for the five students going to Moraine Park Technical College for the 2024-2025 school year for studies in various areas of Tool & Die. With so many different career opportunities available and actively looking for employees, we are glad these students wanted to be a Tool & Die Maker when they “grow-up”! We are proud to sponsor these five motivated, hard-working, young individuals, as well as employ them across various areas in our shop! ? Full-time apprentice in the Sinker EDM department working on her apprenticeship ? Full-time apprentice in the Toolmaker department working on his apprenticeship ? Full-time apprentice in the Wire EDM department working on his apprenticeship ? Full-time apprentice in the Toolmaker department working on his apprenticeship ? Full-time student working in the CNC department while going to school for a 2-year degree in CNC programing At Mantz Automation Inc. one of our largest focuses is recruiting and training the youth for tomorrow. Currently just about every trade is hurting for employees that are knowledgeable, willing to put in a quality days’ work, and willing to stick with the program for the duration of an apprenticeship. So to combat that labor shortage in the Tool & Die trade specifically, we run programs with the local High Schools as soon as freshman year, offer apprenticeships, offer tuition reimbursement, have emerging leadership professional training sessions at Mantz, attend college and career fairs, do one on one tours, etc. Through our diligence in keeping up on these activities throughout the years we are so pleased to have this turn-out of 5 active apprentices all at once! Thursday evening at the Washington County Fair Mantz Automation Inc. had the privilege of supporting youth livestock exhibitors by attending, bidding on and purchasing a market hog raised by youth in our community. Mantz bid aggressively on many animals, and ultimately won the bid purchasing a market hog from youth exhibitor Eli Filber. This was Eli’s last year in the project, having raised and showed hogs for 5+ years. He plans to continue his education as well as go into the trades for a career, thinking currently about pursuing electrician work! The hog we purchased was reserve champion home bred and raised, with the name of Harry; weighing 270 lbs! Here’s a little bit about how the 4-H youth livestock auction works, incase your business would like to participate next year! ? Buyers are encouraged to walk through the barns and talk with youth about their animal, what they’ve learned, how they’ve raised it, and what their plans for next year are. ? Youth are encouraged to network with buyers as they walk through the barns prior to the auction. ? Buyers then are provided a complimentary dinner, with most of the local business owners in the area in attendance, a great networking opportunity! ? All buyers are given a large sign with the company name, they can proudly hold up when bidding. ? Animals are auctioned off in order of placement in events earlier in the week; highest ranking to lowest. ? The proceeds go to the youth who raised the animal, trained and worked with the animal, and showed the animal earlier in the week. ? Most of the youth use this money directly towards college and continued education. ? The fair has meat processors pre-reserved with slots available to have the animal processed right after the fair is completed for the season. ? Some companies give the meat out to their employees, while others opt to serve the employees a tasty meal, or host an event with a pig roast! We are looking forward to receiving “Harry” soon, and participating next year. Congratulations to all the youth who made the sale and sold livestock last night, all your hard work paid off!

Thank you to Mantz Automation Inc. for their generous donation to support the Pediatric Literacy Project of Washington County! Mantz Automation's support will allow pediatricians and family medicine physicians to give free books to young patients at their visits. The ultimate goal of the project is to encourage reading and provide children, no matter their circumstances, with their own books. A big CONGRATULATIONS to Nicholas Kubisch for being awarded the top Tool and Die apprentice in his class! Nick attends Waukesha County Technical College for his apprentice classes and additional Mechanical Engineering classes. At Mantz Automation Inc., Nick is an outstanding employee and does his job well. He is a large part of our finishing department and we are honored to work with him and train him each day. He never hesitates to work extra hours when needed, and always has a good eye for quality and good attention to detail. Nick also joins us for our monthly Emerging Leaders meetings as we work to train and establish the future leaders of Mantz Automation Inc..
