#mansawearstyle is mashing-up your unique quality Ghanaian fabric designed piece with existing clothes in your closet.

关于我们

Named after my grandmother, Nana Mansa, mansawear’s clean and simple silhouette is influenced by her philosophy of simplicity, tradition and forward thinking perspective on life. The line’s minimalist style complements the bright, bold and sassy colors of the fabrics. Mansawear uses the classic Ghanaian outfit, a skirt and top known as Kaba ne Slit, as the base of its design platform. My goal is to create an enduring brand clothing line using high-quality Ghanaian fabrics coupled with excellent tailoring. Mansawear’s vision is to make Ghanaian clothing a part of the American wardrobe. It’s about intricate patterns, opulent fabrics, immaculate tailoring and simple designs to create your style, your fashion statement. It’s about custom-made clothing that blends Ghanaian and US fashions that are elegant, stylish, versatile and “Uniquely You!“ It’s about taking your Ghanaian-inspired top, skirt, dress and combining it with existing items in your closet.

    Update to mansawear

March 2025 Original.? Julie Keller: The 2025 Pinup Girl Welcome to?Threadlines, our monthly blog dedicated to celebrating our passionate supporters who inspire our brand. We shine the spotlight on none other than Miss Pinup Rochester 2017 and birthday girl,?Julie Keller. ? Julie and I first crossed paths during a?Mansawear trunk show at the Memorial Art Gallery, where she was immediately captivated by the bold colors and sophisticated designs. As a lover of vintage fashion, she naturally gravitated toward Mansawear’s unique aesthetic—an exciting blend of classic silhouettes and modern Ghanaian fabrics. ? Her love for vintage fashion led her into the world of?pinup modeling?and to her amazement she discovered that there were a lot of amazing pinup photographers in Rochester. Her embrace of the art of retro glamour led her to be crowned Miss Pinup Rochester 2017 and first runner up in 2021. ? But Julie is so much more than just a lover of beautiful clothes. She's a vibrant, multifaceted individual who embodies the spirit of Rochester.? Beyond her creative pursuits, Julie dedicates her time to humanitarian work. She works as a Case Manager for?Catholic Charities and Church World Services?where she helps?refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Afghanistan, and Venezuela?adjust to life in their new country. From registering children for school to connecting families with resources for?English as a Second Language?and workforce development through OACES, Julie makes a tangible difference in our community.? She works with local churches and places of worship to get refugees clothing and furniture to help them start their new lives in the US. ? Julie’s artistic passions extend beyond fashion—she’s also a musician. She plays?bass guitar in the vintage rock scene.??Under the stage name Felix Goldstein, Julie is a talented bass guitarist. Her latest album, "Double Helix," features a blend of vintage rock songs. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, she could be found performing at Starry Night Café ? When she's not modeling, working, volunteering, or rocking out, Julie enjoys spending time with her furry and scaly family: Boogle and Nymeria (the cats), Fifi (the turtle), and Lulu (the lizard)! You can catch glimpses of their adorable antics on her Instagram – definitely worth a follow! ? Julie is a?dedicated supporter of Mansawear, modeling for the brand at the annual?Fashion Week Rochester. Her love for the brand is evident in her statement: "I get so many compliments when I wear my Mansawear outfits."?Julie's vibrant personality and diverse interests make her an ideal representative for Mansawear's mission of creating clothing that truly lifts and inspires its wearers.?Happy Birthday, Julie Keller! Thank you for being a vibrant part of the Mansawear family. ? • Theresa Mazzullo: The Muse Welcome to Threadlines, our monthly blog celebrating and spotlighting our ardent fans. ?I chose create one blog, blended from two months and two years (December 2024 and January 2025) because of what Theresa Mazzullo embodies. As I close 2024 and begin 2025, the perfect customer to profile is my muse, Theresa? She not only encouraged me to start Mansawear, but also epitomizes balance in fashion, culture and politics. Theresa and I were gym locker mates at the now defunct Carlson YMCA located in downtown Rochester.?And for those who know her, she’s the paragon of fashion, elegance and chic.?So when she started telling me to sell the way I dress, I did pay attention, resulting in the launch of Mansawear.?My style is a fusion of incorporating my Mansawear garment, designed using modern theme Ghanaian fabrics and mashing it up, as in mix and match, with items already existing in my closets. As her muse and friend, I experienced how Theresa’s open-mindedness permeates her perspectives on culture, politics and fashion.?She’s able to assess and analyze each situation or action alone as well as put it into its historical or cultural or socio-economic context and act accordingly.?Her a For example, I’ve seen her hosting political fund-raisers for both her Democratic and Republican friends. ?For her the operative word is “friend & community.” She was able to envision how bold, unfamiliar patterns and vibrant colored fabrics will enliven the wardrobes of Rochesterians and encourage me to make a business out of it. As we usher in 2025, I’m thrilled to know that Theresa will still be by my side advice and guiding in her elegant and effortless chick Mansawear mashups.?To the muse Theresa Mazzullo! Update to mansawear

September 2024 ? A Dentist In The House ? Welcome to Threadlines, our monthly blog for celebrating and spotlighting our ardent fans.??This month's pop-off queen is Dr. Mattie Alleyne, dentist and glass bead artist extraordinaire.? ? One thing you'll notice upon meeting Mattie is her grace and poise. For regular readers of this blog, you won't be surprised to find out that Mattie, like most of my friends, started out as a Mansawear customer. We met about 8 years ago when she ordered a made-to-measure garment. Since then, my admiration, respect, and love for her have resulted in a blossoming friendship, which has grown and strengthened over the years. ? Since Mattie retired as a New York State Department of Corrections dentist, where she was in charge of dental services at a regional correctional facility, she has focused on exploring various arts and crafts. Her days are filled with activities such as attending meetings with senior Stitch groups (making hats to donate to the local Veterans Outreach), taking art workshops at the Jewish Community Center and Flower City Arts Center, and participating in interesting endeavors wherever they happen. In addition, she has her own studio where she indulges in making glass beads, metalsmithing, and ceramics. She also spends a lot of time gardening, tending to her strawberries, blueberries, okra, peppers, and tomatoes, as well as flowers. ? Au contraire to the image of a retiree or pensioner (as they say in Ghana) sitting at home or in coffee shops eating donuts, Mattie, I believe, is busier now than during her dentistry days. She is involved with and supports various cultural and arts institutions in the community. On any given night, one is sure to spot Mattie wearing one of her gorgeous Mansawear outfits, her silver mane coiffed to perfection, at: a Members Only Opening at the Memorial Art Gallery; a movie screening at the Dryden or The Little; a play at Geva or The Auditorium; or dining with friends. ? But most important is Mattie’s love and dedication to her wheelchair-bound daughter, Veronica. For Mattie, Veronica is her “handbag,” and she doesn’t leave home without her. She even turned down a Fashion Week ticket because there wasn’t accommodation for a wheelchair. ? I’m so blessed and grateful to have Mattie as friend and Mansawear devotee. Here’s to the Dentist in the house for being you! #custommadeclothing?#madetomeasure?#Ghanastyle?#WomenClothingShop #amazingwomen #wonderfulcustomers #greatcustomers ?

  • She Walks The Talk ? Welcome to Threadlines, our monthly blog for celebrating and spotlighting our ardent fans.?This month's pop-off queen is Aria Camaione-Lind, a woman who walks her Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) talk.? ? I met Aria 19 years ago when our children were in Ms. Jeannette’s Gentle Lamb Day Care and the trust she evoked in me made me know that we’ll be livelong friends.?And tru that! The Camaione-Lind household was the 1st non-relative sleepover for my 3-year oldish daughter Mansa.? ? Even before DEI become fashionable, Aria was breathing and living that ethos.?And she genuinely walks the talk on 3 levels: via her time, treasure and talent.?She lives in the city of Rochester and all 3 of her children attended Rochester City Schools—Walter Cooper Academy and School of the Arts.?She was and is actively involved in her children’s school: from co-leading a Girl Scout Troop for nearly a decade, volunteering at school and district level parent leadership organizations, and working with community organizations to get children and families what they need to be successful. Aria is a parent advocate unparalleled. ? Her advocacy extends from her family to the wider community. During the George Floyd and Daniel Prude protests in 2020/21, Aria participated in the demonstrations led by Free the People Roc. Being pepper sprayed, shot with rubber bullets and pepper balls by Rochester City Police didn’t stop her from marching and communicating with Mayor Lovely Warren and her administration about police brutality on black and brown Rochesterians.? ? Her social justice activism continues online with her annual Juneteenth appeal for individual wealth transfer from the white to black community. She’s the first person that I saw on Facebook urging her fellow white citizens during Juneteenth to share some of their treasures with their African-American brethren. For the past 6-7 year, Aria would diplomatically ask her black friends and colleagues to share their Cash App or Venmo handles for some “wealth transfer” on her social media platforms. ? The talented Aria runs Aria Strategies LLC, a strategic "turnkey consulting firm" designed to provide comprehensive solutions for mission-driven organizations. ?Aria Strategies was the arts administrator for the My Rochester Mural art project, part of Rochester's public arts programs, which aims to engage local artists and community members in creating public art throughout the city. In addition, she hosted the Amplify Good podcast from 2020 to 2024. The podcast explores positive initiatives people are undertaking to improve society. The podcast features conversations with guests from various backgrounds who are working to make a positive impact. (She interviewed me for her podcast, too!) Here's to Aria and our lifelong friendship, Mansawear fan and a woman who not only talks the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion talk but walks the walk, too! #custommadeclothing #madetomeasure #amazingwomen #greatcustomers
