An amazing tradition being upheld for the 8th year in a row. Manhattan Beer Distributors continues to honor tradition with the sale of chometz before Passover, ensuring seamless operations and supporting our larger community!
For the eighth year in a row, Manhattan Beer Distributors, the largest single-market beer distributor in the U.S., has engaged in Mechiras Chometz—the structured sale of leavened products before Passover. This ensures compliance with Jewish law while maintaining seamless business operations. Jewish law prohibits ownership of chometz (leavened products) during Passover. To adhere to this, Jewish-owned businesses temporarily sell their chometz to a non-Jew before the holiday and repurchase it afterward. This process, guided by halachic (Jewish legal) principles, allows businesses to serve kosher consumers without disruption before and after the holiday. Manhattan Beer Distributors first implemented this process in 2018, thanks to the leadership of the late Rabbi Don Yoel Levy OBM (former head of OK Kosher Certification) Rabbi kalman weinfeld (OK Kosher Executive Rabbinical Council), and Noson Sternberg a local businessman. Their foresight has enabled a sustainable model for kosher beverage distribution. The kosher-certified alcoholic beverage industry is expanding, with increasing demand for premium craft beers, wines, and spirits among kosher consumers. Beyond religious observance, kosher certification enhances brand trust and global market reach. OK Kosher Certification has been leading the way, helping brands navigate kosher certification and seize new business opportunities. For brands looking to expand into kosher-certified alcoholic beverages, now is the time. #OKKosher #KosherCertification #BusinessGrowth #AlcoholIndustry #KosherBeverages #Passover #JewishBusiness #MarketExpansion #MechirasChometz
