We cultivate resilient leaders in workplaces and universities across the country, unlocking the power of their teams.

关于我们

Our mission, at Mandala, is to cultivate more resilient leaders so that they can create safe, connected and engaged teams. Given the current rate of quiet quitting (59%), distress (83%) and isolation in our workforce (51%), the future of innovation, well-being and connection rests primarily on the quality of our leaders. Here at Mandala, we use customized storytelling, role-playing, and evidence-based tools that put participants in scenarios they regularly encounter -- having a difficult conversation with a team member; responding to a frustrated client; or finding ways to pause within a culture of power-through. Through these scenarios, leaders get the tools and peer-community they need to become more self-aware, connected and engaged – creating, then, precisely those kinds of teams. Our partners include Flatiron Health, a subsidiary of Roche, the University of Nevada, Reno, and more recently, the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business.

Did you know that 80% of us stop breathing when we check our emails? Research published in the The New York Times says as much. Why? We’re wired to survive, and emails trigger our worry that everything will fall apart.? Digital?interactions can trigger shallow, disrupted breathing that increases stress and drains energy. Fortunately, it takes just three deep breaths to zap out of it. We love the double-inhale through the nose, followed by the exhale technique – popularized by Dr. Andrew Huberman. Try it out. Your body (and mind) will thank you. Link to Breathing: https://lnkd.in/eYiP3cA NYT: https://lnkd.in/efkViQTS

??? We spend 1/3rd of our lives at work. As a result, most of us see work as the most stressful part of our lives. For a long time, this felt like a problem that didn't materially matter. But now, data is showing up at our front-door telling us that it does. When people are stressed, they quit -- quietly (by just being disengaged) or loudly (by actually leaving), and this costs companies nearly $48B every year. There's many ways to address this problem, but an article published by Workplace Mental Health gives one simple suggestion: Slow down to connect with your people. Just ask them how they're doing. The ability to actually press pause on the culture of over-work and create space for genuine conversation gives people what they truly need. Doing so allows us to find the answer that will resonate the best. https://lnkd.in/d-_75-Ga

Founder & CEO of Mandala | Forbes Contributor | formerly at Google, Verily, and Harvard Business School

Today marks one full year since I left my job at Alphabet Inc. to go build Mandala and help shape the future of management. Three lessons that have stuck from this past year: ?? First, my ability to create depends on how charged my batteries are. A child of the Bay Area, I grew up glamorizing hustle culture. But with every year that passes, it's become clear to me that my best ideas, and more importantly my ability to execute on those ideas, depend on how charged my batteries are. On a daily basis, I make sure to get my time with people I love, a freshly brewed coffee, runs in Golden Gate park, and my fair share of NBA podcasts. ?? Second, my happiest days are when I've learned how to let go. I know what my goals and OKRs are, but I also know how little control I have over them. I've heard this a million times from my favorite basketball players and life coaches, but focusing on the journey -- the day before you, the task ahead of you -- is not only useful, it's liberating. You're lost in the act. You're one with it. The daily goal, for me, is to get back into that frame of mind. ?? Third, success is sustainability. For years, I had only seen successful entrepreneurship through the lens of a quick, VC-backed exit. I know raising outside capital might be necessary. But this past year, I've met so many founders who see their businesses as ones that will take a decade or two or three to materialize. With some patience, a truly wonderful group of advisors, and the power of generative AI, I'm proud that I get to keep growing Mandala on my terms and keeping building out the future of management. We're sustainable. And with that, year one gets to become year two.
