Totally. And adaptability and resilience are traits that must first live within our leaders before we can ask teams to do it.
Organizational psychologist at Wharton, #1 NYT bestselling author of HIDDEN POTENTIAL and THINK AGAIN, and host of the TED podcasts WorkLife and Re:Thinking
In the past, people were hired and promoted based on ability. In the future, the more valuable currency will be agility. We should bet on people with the motivation to learn and the flexibility to change. From my Q&A at the Oslo Business Forum

In January, we will be launching the enhanced version of Esteem Leadership Accelerator, designed to teams and organizations to up-level the skills that build great cultures ---the kind that are resilient and adaptive. Learn more or contact us to enroll a team... https://lnkd.in/ecKxxmSi
Yikes. 4 out of 5 people feel dissatisfied with work --that's a systemic problem. While Korn Ferry highlights pay as a big issue (and it is), leaders who check-out or stop relating well to teams cause their culture to wither. When low engagement flips to outright dissatisfaction, it mean's your team or company is becoming ill. It's costly and avoidable. Leaders more than ever need better skills to balance well-being, performance and growth --inwardly first, and then to foster it in their teams an organizations. This is the exact skillset we teach at Mandala Institute. We help leaders build more resilient and adaptable cultures that perform and grow in the flow of change. DM me to learn more.

Leaders *must* have engrained relational skills to succeed. Skills like empathy, presence, influence and coaching are more essential than ever. They help teams build resilience and adaptability (and avoid burnout). We help your leaders at all levels create a culture they want to be part of. #futureofwork #culture #leadership
Resilience and adaptability are what leaders want in their organizations. Instead a crisis of engagement and burnout continues. What's the issue? It's how we develop our leaders. Relational skills are more important than ever to create the right outcomes--again and again. Here's a fresh look at that... #Futureofwork #Culture #Leadership

Reach out or follow us to receive a primer on the Mandala Institute's approach to Relational Skills. In our client work, we see relational skills as the game changer for engagement and a culture to attract and retain top talent. Our approach to embedding them is powerful, cost-effective and supports a self-directed leadership culture.
The saying goes, people join a company or brand, and quit because of a manager. Check out the gallup stats below. Anyone who leads a team of people *must have* enhanced relational skills to succeed today. These skills, which include coaching basics like listening, feedback, empathy, and recognition are in short supply for most managers. Why? Most managers (and some senior managers) receive little-to-no skill development to lead people or model healthy organizational culture. As a consequence managers under pressure double down on their own hard skills, reputation, control and the attributes that propelled their careers up to that point. And that kills the culture and undermines talent strategy. Organizations that are serious about talent, culture and performance understand the need to cultivate leaders across the organization early, often and frequently. Reach out if your organization is ready to up-level your managers to leaders. I'll also share Mandala Institute's perspective on what key relational skills are now, and how to build them into your company OS. #culture #futureofwork #transformation #innovation #talent #coaching

Do you lead a team or a business unit? It may be time for an organizational tune up to prepare your future leaders and strengthen your culture. Let us show you how. Follow us to learn more. #leadership #culture #futureofwork
I have been reflecting on this @WSJ article on loneliness in the workplace since it came out. The article spotlights what has been the shadow side of digitally fueled speed, flexibility and freedom of modern work (wrought from covid). The social effects are showing up as loneliness and isolation --both in the physical office and beyond. And many of us are just catching up to what the velocity of change in how businesses and institutions operate actually means. For leaders of organizations, this affects everyone --our teams, our colleagues, and ourselves if we're honest. Downstream we find that productivity and innovation lag, so this is as much a business problem as it is a social one. My view is that much what we call 'leadership' must expand further to emphasize the deeper skills that foster human connection --the very connections that support a vibrant culture that can embrace change, take pride in performance, and take the risks required to innovate together. No surprise to those who know me: I have a point of view on how we prepare future leaders with the very skills to create cultures where connection is real and our people thrive. But before I go on, what do you think we need now? #leadership #FutureofWork #Culture Mandala Institute
