关于我们

Manatee County Government has made quality customer service to you, our customers – Manatee residents, business owners and visitors – our top priority. The Bradenton area was recently named Florida’s “most satisfying” place to live. We couldn’t agree more. Our quality of life is second to none. We’d like to think part of that satisfaction is thanks to the friendly, customer service-driven government we’ve created at Manatee County. We live here. We work here. We’re your neighbors. We appreciate the honor and privilege to serve this great community! Manatee County is located on Florida’s gorgeous Gulf Coast. It is bordered by Tampa Bay and St. Petersburg to the north, Hardee and DeSoto counties to the east and Sarasota to the south. The beautiful beaches of Anna Maria Island fade into the Gulf of Mexico to the west. The County seat and the largest municipality in Manatee County is Bradenton. Manatee County has five other municipalities, including the City of Anna Maria, Bradenton Beach, Holmes Beach, the Town of Longboat Key and Palmetto. More than 400,000 people call Manatee County home, but our population increases considerably in the winter when high temperatures vary between 65 and 75 degrees. Many northerners, affectionately known as Snow Birds, have second homes or rent a winter home here. Our county employees are key to delivering services to all our residents including our seniors, children, families and those just starting out. From the Libraries to Forest Preserves, Beaches to Neighborhoods, new developments to individual residences, the services we provide touch everyone in the community in a positive way. As a county employee, you contribute toward that effort.

  • Due to Hurricanes Helene and Milton, our animal shelters have been temporarily closed. Since our Palmetto Adoption Center suffered damage during Hurricane Milton, all dogs are currently being housed at our Bishop location. With the influx of lost pets and lack of space, it is crucial that you visit our Bishop location at 5718 21st Avenue West (Bradenton) to help reunite with your family member. An extended stray hold has been enacted, giving us the ability to hold cats and dogs up to 14 days. Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sunday, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Please call (941) 742-5933 or 311 for more information.

  • Manatee County Lift Station crews have been working tirelessly since Hurricanes Helene and Milton made landfall, ensuring the continuous flow of wastewater to our treatment facilities. A wastewater lift station is a critical pumping facility that moves sewage or wastewater from lower elevations to higher ones, allowing it to flow through treatment systems or to another location when gravity alone is insufficient. With 120 dedicated employees working 12-hour shifts, our crews have transported pumps, generators and other essential equipment to overcome the significant challenges posed by these storms. At the time of this post, more than 80% of our lift stations are operational. Crews are working around the clock to restore the remaining lift stations to normal operations as quickly as possible. We deeply appreciate the commitment and perseverance of these public servants under such challenging conditions. Residents are urged to continue conserving water until all systems are fully restored. Thank you for your patience and support as we work to keep our community safe and running smoothly.

  • In anticipation of the significant rainfall expected from Hurricane Milton, Manatee County Utilities has proactively reduced the Lake Manatee to 36 feet. Daily water release from Lake Manatee is part of our ongoing management efforts. Lowering the dam level ahead of the storm aims to help minimize discharge rates. We have notified residents near the dam to ensure they are aware of the potential impacts on their properties. For further information, please call 3-1-1 or visit mymanatee.org/storm for the latest updates. Your safety is our priority.
