It was an informative, restorative, packed couple of days at the Virginia Women's Leadership Forum! The Virginia Chamber Foundation, Virginia Economic Development Partnership,Prince William Economic Development and Tourism, and NOVA EDA all came together to host some of the nation's most inspiring women in business, sports, and economic development right here in Northern Virginia. Our Assistant Director of Economic Development, Tia Nelson, participated in the programming and The Solheim Cup electric kickoff celebration last night at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Prince William County. Hot off the press! The City is excited to share a new tourism video that will aid continued promotion of #OurManassas. From the always festive holiday flair in Historic Downtown to the electric atmosphere of First Fridays and 4th of July, City of Manassas continues to be a destination hot-spot for visitors near and far. Did you know the blue 'smoke' in the Manassas logo is a subtle nod to Hylton Performing Arts Center? Yes, it also represents the City's railway history, but the design importantly captures Manassas' evolution and creative spirit. In Manassas, art comes in many forms. There’s the The ARTfactory (in the historic 1908 Hopkins Candy Factory) that hosts art mediums like dance, theater, music, visual arts performances, and even classes. Or, take in a performance at Hylton Performing Arts Center (with features by Manassas Ballet Theatre) and the outdoor Harris Pavilion for concerts and festivals. Local galleries and a pottery studio are other ways to experience our creative art scene. We’re obviously just scratching the surface. Fisher Auto Parts and its distribution network, Federated Auto Parts, is a family owned and operated business since 1929 with 500 company-owned locations. Their newest operation at 9404 Center Point Lane is one of the most recent to join the ranks. The auto parts store has an exhaustive list of quality products available to both businesses and individual consumers. Ever notice those tiny diagonal lines in front of the “M” in our Manassas logo? Well, that’s a cow catcher! Once full of dairy farms, the region had its fair share of loose cows on the tracks requiring trains to be equipped with a “cow catcher.” Today, those same rails provide VRE commuter train service for passengers to Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia while Amtrak lines run from Lynchburg through Manassas, connecting the City to the entire country by rail.
