It’s Why Not Wednesday! For me today that means Why Not Quit Asking the Wrong Questions. I was chatting the other day with a business associate who said, “I don’t use LinkedIn much, because it’s so political.” I don’t think I ever asked why, probably because I have never thought of LinkedIn as being political. Instead, I just started chatting up the value of the platform. Sometimes we don’t ask enough questions. I could have said “What is it about LinkedIn that makes you feel people are talking about political topics?” Or, “Um…are you thinking people are using it to share their views on politics or more to position themselves in some way connected to a political issue?” Listening for what might prompt a good question is maybe hard in a 1minute read. How many opportunities do we miss when we get a compliment online? “Thanks for sharing. I need this today!” Why not say, thank you.
