Celebrating Hermandad at HerMANAsGiving! Congratulations to MANA de San Diego for an incredible Café con Pan "HerMANAsGiving" event hosted at our JPMorganChase Chula Vista Branch on Tuesday. The event brought together over 65 herMANAs and herMANOs to celebrate the power of hermandad and community. The day was filled with inspiration, learning, and connection. Our amazing Community Manager, Anntonika Whittaker, shared invaluable tips to prevent fraud during the holiday season, providing practical examples and tools to keep everyone safe. I also had the privilege of sharing about our Coaching for Impact Program, where I provide one-on-one coaching to entrepreneurs, helping them grow and thrive in various areas. It was especially meaningful to share this on National Entrepreneur Day, as we continue to support and uplift all our herMANAs entrepreneurs. One of the most touching moments of the event was hearing a testimony from a LUMI mother who is part of the Hermanitas mom cohort. She shared her inspiring journey of personal and professional growth through coaching, reminding us of all of the impact this community has. Another herMANA spoke about her own experiences of being part of this empowering group, further showcasing the strength and unity of MANA de San Diego. To bring the community closer, we enjoyed a fun and interactive bingo activity that strengthened our connections. Our current board secretary and elected chair, Patricia Campos, closed the event with beautiful words about the significance of MANA de San Diego and its mission. A heartfelt thank you to MANA de San Diego Team Diana Lopez, Athziry G., Natalia Mercado, Daphne Garcia Solorio and Felix Lafuente for organizing and coordinating this wonderful event. We are also deeply grateful to Gerardo Castellon and the Chula Vista Branch team for hosting us and providing incredible support. A big thank you to our One Chase Team—Patrick Della, Betty Lou Santiago, Oliver E. Garcia, Rajan Thiara, and Robert Lopez, MPA—for attending and supporting. This past weekend, our Hermanitas came together for an inspiring and hands-on seminar focused on project management! Thank you to Andy Hull, our keynote speaker, for sharing your journey and insightful lessons on project management. You truly inspired our Hermanitas to step up and create impactful projects of their own! ? In addition, we would like to thank Sorayda Santos, Ed.D, PMP for her hard work and dedication to bring project management to the Hermanitas. We truly appreciate your efforts and the positive impact you’ve made. Our Hermanitas put their new project management skills to the test, collaborating to create their own incredible projects—check out the photos to see them in action! We’re so grateful for our amazing Hermanitas Leadership Team (HLT) and co-chairs, who wake up early to support our seminars with energy and dedication. I met Nancy De Los Santos nearly 20 years ago during my time at NHMC, and ever since, I've considered her a Latina treasure and one of the most talented Latina writers I know. Her impressive credits include roles as writer, producer, associate producer on iconic projects like American Family, Resurrection Blvd, and Selena. Despite her remarkable talent, Nancy, like many Latina creatives, faced significant barriers in Hollywood that often prevent talented voices from getting their work to the big screen. One day, over drinks, we talked about these challenges, and Nancy shared a script she had written. Those who were there thought it would be a great idea for a film that Latinas would love to see. That day, I saw her determination to bring her script to life, despite the odds. Fast forward to now: her film, Say a Little Prayer, is finally hitting theaters this weekend. This is a major milestone not only for Nancy but for the Latina community she has championed for decades. Latinas remain underrepresented in Hollywood, with women of color accounting for less than 1% of directors and writers for major films. This lack of access to capital and opportunity often keeps talented creatives from realizing their dreams, while others in the industry are given repeated chances to produce subpar content. This is why it's crucial to show our support for Nancy and her team by showing up for Say a Little Prayer during its opening weekend. Here in San Diego, Adela Garcia is organizing a group to see the film on Friday, and I'd like to invite you to join me on Saturday. Let's pack the AMC Theatre in Mission Valley at 7:40 PM, whether it's Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.
