Ever spent your vacation pumping while your partner enjoyed the time off? Turns out breastfeeding is a full-time job, even on vacation. This holiday weekend, I finally took a kid-free getaway with my husband. After seven months of middle-of-the-night wake-ups, I was looking forward to sleeping in. But then reality hit: I had to wake up early to pump. Weeks before, I stressed over building up a milk stash for the trip. My suitcase had to fit a breast pump, storage bags, and a cooler. While on vacation, I couldn’t fully relax. I had to plan our activities around my pumping schedule and clean pumping parts during my downtime. The invisible load of breastfeeding is real and heavy, and often, it’s all on the mother’s shoulders. It’s not just about feeding; it's about constant dedication and planning. Part of my motto for this year is “fearlessly co-creating” and that couldn’t matter more for the bus conversion and logistics.
