关于我们
THE MISSION Mamatoto Village is devoted to serving Black women through the creation of career pathways in maternal health; and providing accessible perinatal support services designed to equip women with the necessary tools to make the most informed decisions in their maternity care, parenting, and lives. THE VISION By offering creative solutions to combating health disparities for mothers, birthing people, babies, and their families, Mamatoto Village's innovative approach increases awareness, fosters a space for resilience and building upon women's strengths, and encourages the family to adopt healthy lifestyles that promote community transformation. We believe that the right to health and self-preservation according to one’s own will is a basic human right; therefore, if women, due to socioeconomic status, ethnicity, or citizenship status, lack access to the information and tools they need to preserve their lives; the lives of their children; and long-term interests, then it is considered a violation of their rights as humans. Mamatoto Village is dedicated to acting toward the cause of reproductive justice in the best capacity possible. Additionally, we believe that women can strengthen one another, giving rise to a more cohesive and supportive environment for childrearing and family wellness.

It is with great pride that I share the success of the Period Product Drive hosted by the Women’s Working Group at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP. After months of planning and organizing, the Women’s Working Group collected menstrual care products through donations from our kind colleagues across the Bay Area, New York, and Washington, DC offices. In May, I had the fortunate opportunity to partner with Emily and Geneva from Sanctuary for Families to put together pouches of menstrual products to support their clients experiencing gender-based violence. In the Washington, DC office, Allendra Letsome and Carley K. also hosted a period pack party in support of Mamatoto Village and A Wider Circle. Lastly, In the Bay Area offices, Samantha Sledd organized donations for Hope Hangar. We feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to give to amazing organizations local to each of our U.S. offices, supporting those in our communities that are in need. In total, we were able to donate over 24,200 individual items across the four organizations. The average menstrual cycle requires 22 sanitary products. Through our efforts, we are able to support over 940 cycles! In the New York office alone, we collected over $1,400 worth of products resulting in over 8,300 individual items donated to Sanctuary for Families’ clients. This amazing outcome was not possible without the contributions and support from many at Cleary. A special thank you to Katherine Hughes for connecting me with Emily, to Paige Dowling for your help with the event space, Karlann Lafayette and the office operations team for helping with the heavy lifting, Michelle Lisee and Lisamarie Giambatista for supporting our group from start to finish on this initiative, and to the members of the Risk team who showed up for me in many ways!
