  • Here Eric is providing counter pressure for me during Casey's birth. This is a common pain management technique where a support person applies steady pressure with a towel against a specific area of the laboring woman's body, most commonly the lower back, to help alleviate pain during contractions, essentially providing relief by applying force against the pressure points caused by the contractions. Other coping mechanisms I used and recommend during labor were birth combs (there's also one in my hand in the pic haha!) and I used the tens in my second 2 births for the more active/early stages before I got into the pool and really liked it. Also cool washcloths for your forehead were a must for me! What about you, what did you find most helpful for managing labor pain? Help another mama out in the comments!
