Just days into celebrating the new year, our worlds were turned upside down. Devastating wildfires have consumed parts of Los Angeles including the Pacific Palisades, Altadena, Malibu, Pasadena, and Hollywood Hills. With the ongoing wildfires that have been ravaging whole communities, we are thankful for all of the first responders, firefighters, including the 800 incarcerated firefighters who are risking their lives to contain the fires, save homes, and save lives. We are reminded of the strength and resilience of our communities. We are reminded of how precious life is. These fires have not only left devastation in their wake, but also posed a profound challenge to our sense of safety, our homelife, and our collective well-being. We at Mama Glow and the Mama Glow Foundation want to extend our prayers to all who have been affected by the recent and ongoing climate crisis in Los Angeles. ???? The Mama Glow Foundation, is a New York based, Black female-founded 501c3 non-profit, committed to advancing reproductive justice and birth equity, and WE BELIEVE THAT CLIMATE JUSTICE INTERSECTS WITH REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE. Our founder is a California Native, who previously survived two fires, and had to start her life anew. As a mother, and as someone who has experienced losing two homes to fire, she is familiar with this type of pain and devastation and felt compelled to show up at this moment in solidarity with those who are suffering right now.
