Malaria affects millions across the globe, and its impact reaches far beyond borders. By investing in malaria programs, the U.S. becomes safer, stronger, and more prosperous. Here’s how:?? ? 1?? Stronger: Fighting malaria strengthens our diplomatic ties with other nations, fostering stronger partnerships and enhancing our influence on the world stage.? ? 3?? More Prosperous: Tackling malaria creates new economic opportunities—stimulating growth, opening up new markets for U.S. businesses, and driving global prosperity.? ? Malaria programs are key to safeguarding U.S. health, security, and economic interests. We must continue to accelerate the fight.?

Malaria is preventable, treatable, and can be eliminated in our lifetimes — but it will require expanded efforts from the U.S. and global partners. ? Over the past two decades, we've made tremendous progress—millions of lives saved, stronger communities, and innovative tools that move us closer to elimination. A malaria-free future is within reach, but only if we continue to accelerate the fight.

In a powerful new op-ed by Admiral Tim Ziemer, former Trump NSC and the first U.S. Global Malaria Coordinator, he shares why the U.S. must not only continue but expand its fight against #malaria globally.? ? "I’m concerned that we are weakening our status as a world leader by pulling the plug on critical programs that make us strong in the face of foreign adversaries who wish to undermine our influence... Continuing the fight to rid the world of malaria is critical to our safety, security, and prosperity.”?

February 27, 2025 (Washington, DC) –?Malaria No More CEO Martin Edlund issued the following statement upon the U.S. Department of State’s termination of 90% of USAID contracts, including contracts for life-saving malaria programs: Yesterday, the Trump Administration canceled contracts for ninety percent of USAID’s work, leaving critical bilateral malaria assistance on the cutting room floor. Despite publicly praising malaria programs and granting a waiver for life-saving malaria assistance, Secretary of State Rubio has signed off on these cancellations. Halting the U.S. programs that prevent and treat malaria will lead to outbreaks and an exponential increase in deaths. The decisions made yesterday mean that even if the U.S. were to resume any life-saving malaria work, these programs could face disruptions for at least a year. New modeling shows that a year of disruptions would lead to nearly 15 million additional cases of malaria and 107,000 additional deaths. U.S. malaria programs make America safer, stronger and more prosperous. We urge the Administration to restart these life-saving programs before outbreaks get out of hand. https://lnkd.in/eWeiYVbC
