There’s nothing quite like watching a vision come to life.? For CONBUD NY Noche de Brujas Halloween event, our team at Malaika Collective brought a custom portrait station to the space, turning our mood board into a stunning reality. From the initial creative pitch to set design, lighting, and every shot, this side-by-side of our concept board and final portraits shows the power of collaboration and intention. Attendees were genuinely excited to see something like this—many shared they’d never experienced a portrait activation so beautifully crafted and so personal. Our team captured incredible faces and costumes with artistry and care, creating a space that honored each person in the moment. There’s a unique magic in being seen and celebrated by an incredibly talented Black photographer, and seeing attendees feel that joy and pride was truly humbling. Every step of this project was made possible by an amazing team who brought heart, vision, and artistry to each detail. From the first pitch to the final capture, this activation was a celebration of our community, creativity, and the beauty of capturing people as they are. Here’s to creating more meaningful experiences and capturing moments that resonate. We’re grateful for every opportunity to showcase our community in its fullest beauty. ??

I HAVE BIG NEWS!! ???? Malaika Collective is NOW AVAILABLE at Kohl's for BLACK HISTORY MONTH & BEYOND! ?? This has been in the works for almost an entire year, and keeping it a secret was HARD! I am so excited that we’re bringing our designs and stories, especially from Ghana, to such a wide stage. We’ve revived our most loved designs and spiced things up with new ones featuring our beloved Adinkra symbols, from Ghana ????, my mothers homeland. It’s ALWAYS been more than fashion; it’s about sharing and celebrating the rich Black and Ghanaian heritage on a national platform and being anle to share our stories & reconnect with one another. Diving into our designs on Malaika’s page is something I’m looking forward to sharing with you all. It’s heartwarming to get back to our roots, and I’m so looking forward to seeing all of you in designs that were made with you in mind. This moment has been almost 9 years in the making. I am so glad this work is starting to pay off. ??
