?? Campaign Update! ?? We’re thrilled to announce that our Wóyute Regenerative Production Farm campaign is now at almost $2,000! ???? Our farm team has been hard at work, finishing the first chicken paddock, and in between, we’ve been giving tours—including to a charter bus full of Indian Health Service representatives just a few days ago! ???? We had amazing conversations about promoting healthy, traditional foods as wellness, the importance of developing local food codes, and more. Thank you to Indian Health Service for visiting and witnessing this beautiful piece of land we're nurturing for our people. ?? ?? Our 2024 Poultry Producers Program has officially wrapped! 14 families secured a year's worth of meat, and we've processed around 1,050 birds—about 3,500+ pounds of meat! More exciting updates to come from the producers themselves. ?? We’re so grateful for your support so far. Help us hit our goal to help the farm team continue doing their incredible work! ?? Every Child Matters ?? Yesterday was Orange Shirt Day, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We paused to honor and remember the Indigenous children who were taken from their families and sent to residential schools. We reflected on the deep atrocities inflicted on our beautiful relatives, and we acknowledge the pain that still lingers in our communities. Every day, we carry their memory with us as we continue to strive for a more equitable and sustainable future for our people. We honor the lives lost by speaking our languages, practicing our Indigenous lifeways, and standing strong in our culture. Let’s walk forward in remembrance, healing, and unity. ???

Here’s a list of our featured local producers who made the 3rd Annual Convergence such a success! ???????? A huge thank you to each of you for allowing us to purchase your products and showcase them for our attendees. We thank you for all the hard work, effort, and care you put into your products every day! This aimed to show our community members the possibilities Makoce’s Food Hub will bring for local producers. This facility will serve as a central connection point between local producers and food entrepreneurs—farmers, ranchers, chefs, caterers, and more—and the broader Pine Ridge community. Through the Hub, producers will have access to resources that help distribute their goods more effectively, building businesses and opening doors to new markets like local schools and hospitals. This ensures more community members can access nourishing, locally produced foods that support health and well-being. Remember, we do not live in a food desert, but a food oasis! Our local producers remind us that through their efforts. ??
