We're thrilled to partner with Studio Bondy Architecture to increase access to opportunities in the field of architecture and support the next generation of architects and designers! The field of architecture does not reflect the demographics of the U.S. with white males comprising about 70% of architects while only around 3% of architects are Black, 10% are Latinx, and 15% are Asian. The partnership between Making Waves and Studio Bondy Architecture is looking to change. The partnership is creating opportunities for underrepresented students to gain hands-on experience through internships, externships, and job shadowing. Students will also gain support for applications and interviews through resume and portfolio reviews and mock interviews. “New voices and perspectives are needed in our profession, and we cherish the opportunity to provide students with hands-on engagement," shared thomas lumikko, Principal at Studio Bondy Architecture. “Through this partnership with Making Waves,?Studio?Bondy?wants to help bridge the gap between education and professional aspiration in design related fields, encouraging students to envision themselves as future architects and designers who can shape their communities.” Read more ?? https://lnkd.in/gnzhNjfC

“I didn’t have any family members or connections in this industry to guide me. I worked exceptionally hard to gain a secure network, access to industry insights, knowledge, and competence in my field," shared Jonathan Negrete (he/him), a California State University, Chico - College of Business grad and an Investment Consultant at Fidelity Investments. While Jonathan says his college degree gave him essential skills – like financial analysis, strategic planning, and communication – his biggest lesson learned was around the power of relationships. “If there’s one thing I learned as a student, college is about the people you meet,” Jonathan shared as he inspires younger generations to pursue careers in finance, no matter their background. “People want to help! Reach out and be vulnerable.
