Eleven-year-old Isabelle was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2021. Her radiation treatment left her temporarily unable to speak and she had to relearn to talk. Isabelle loves swimming and going to the beach. When she found out she’d get a wish, she thought about having fun in the water in her own backyard. She wished for an above-ground pool to enjoy with her family and friends during hot afternoons in her hometown of Vacaville. Granting Isabelle’s wish was truly a community effort. A huge thank you to All Seasons Pools & Spas for donating Isabelle’s beautiful new pool and to Ample Electric, Inc. for donating their time and services to complete the electrical work. We’re also grateful to Penny's From Heaven Landscaping, who did the site prep work and Giant Pools, who did the installation—both at a discount! “These volunteers and vendors were amazing to work with,” says VP of Mission Delivery Susie Falk. “We couldn’t have created such an amazing, happy space for Isabelle to swim and play without their support.” Thank you to Steve and Faith Brown for generously adopting Isabelle's wish. And we can’t forget our volunteer photographer, Melissa Officer, who captured these special moments on Isabelle’s wish day!

Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
关于我们
Make-A-Wish creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Since 1980, Make-A-Wish has granted more than 500,000 wishes worldwide with the help of more than 43,000 volunteers across 50 countries on five continents. The Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area chapter was founded in 1984 and has granted more than 9,000 wishes in its 40-year history. The chapter covers 17 Northern California counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Del Norte, Humboldt, Lake, Mendocino, Napa, Marin, Monterey, San Benito, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, Siskiyou, Solano and Sonoma. Research shows children who have wishes granted build the physical and emotional strength needed to fight a critical illness. This can improve their quality of life and produce better health outcomes. Wishes can’t happen without community support, so thank you for supporting and sharing our mission so every eligible child can have their wish granted.

Don't miss this chat between Dennis Schrag, our senior major gifts officer, and KTVU 2's Andre Senior! "A wish is truly part of something that helps them through the healing process. It gives them motivation to go get that last infusion. A lot of time, the wish kids are giving back to their own families because the families go through a lot as well." - Dennis Watch segment: https://lnkd.in/gmUv65Bb #FeelGoodFriday

Seven-year-old Kyra loves animals—especially reptiles. Her favorite toys are snakes, lizards, and frogs, which she calls her pets. When Kyra learned she'd receive a wish because of her battle with leukemia, she knew exactly what she wanted—an enchanted forest bedroom makeover so all of her pets could feel at home! She had a clear idea in mind: hanging ivy, lush tropical jungle murals, and a bunk bed that felt like a cozy tree fort. Thank you to our amazing skills volunteers: designer Jan Whittingham, who brought Kyra's magical vision to life, and photographer Janeth Sanchez-Vernon, who beautifully captured the special moments during her wish reveal. And a huge thank you to Claire Brisson and Sheri Sobrato, for generously adopting Kyra's wish! ?? ?? ?? #WishWednesday

In 1991, Ken Avery was a young CPA focused on his career and family, with volunteering far from his mind. That all changed when he received a brochure about Make-A-Wish at the Orinda BART station. Next thing he knew, he joined the Board of Directors and became their treasurer. “I have always cared about helping others, especially youth,” says Ken, who is a father of three. “And I always felt I was more successful when I helped others be successful. That’s exactly how I feel about Make-A-Wish. I stay involved to help them keep growing to the next level.” Ken’s commitment to Make-A-Wish has never wavered and his passion for helping children continues to shine.
