Giving all children a chance to read and succeed.
关于我们
The mission of MAKE WAY FOR BOOKS (MWFB) is to give all children the chance to read and succeed.. MWFB provides a full continuum of early literacy education, programs, and resources to make sharing books an important and enjoyable part of families' lives. Our highest priority is to serve economically disadvantaged families with young children (birth through five) and early childhood professionals in under-served areas of Tucson and southern Arizona. MWFB envisions a community in which all children enter kindergarten with the necessary early literacy skills to be successful in school and throughout life. The Importance of Early Literacy Success begins way before a child ever steps foot in a classroom. If we make sure young children experience quality early education and literacy-rich environments, if we ensure they have developmentally appropriate books and adults who read to them every day, they have a better chance of getting to kindergarten ready to learn. When children start kindergarten prepared, they are far more likely to graduate from high school, stay out of trouble with the law, and become productive members of the workforce.

We thought we couldn’t get any more excited about being selected as a Writing Change grantee… and then we saw this video from literacy hero Amanda Gorman! It’s an honor to be among just ten organizations selected nationally, all of whom are doing such inspiring literacy work. With this support, we’ll be able to reach even more families across the state, empowering them to build foundational literacy skills so Arizona’s children are ready for kindergarten and beyond!
ELC is proud to announce that we’re expanding our WRITING CHANGE initiative in partnership with poet, activist, & Estée Lauder Global Changemaker Amanda Gorman to support five additional organizations. Now with 10 non-profit organizations, WRITING CHANGE is advancing literacy as a pathway to equality, access, and social change across the U.S. As we honor International Day of the Girl tomorrow (Oct 11), we recognize the important work of these organizations and what’s possible when girls and gender-expansive youth have the tools, resources, and education needed to share their stories. Hear more from Amanda Gorman and learn more about the WRITING CHANGE cohort here: https://lnkd.in/gSu7PdBb Congratulations to, 52nd Street Project Inc, American Library Association, Art Start, Girls Write Now, Latinx Kidlit Book Festival, Make Way for Books, MIGIZI, We Need Diverse Books, Wide Angle Youth Media, and WriteGirl.
