Thank you to all that attended our webinar with SHiFT! It was brilliant to hear Dr Amy Ludlow’s insights into the policy and practice change needed to better support young people and children in the justice system.
Thank you to all who joined the webinar with Make Time Count Today yesterday where CE Dr Amy Ludlow spoke about the importance of relationship-based practice to address systemic issues and break intergenerational cycles of crime and harm. The conversation also covered the need for evidence-based policy, and the challenges of diversionary practices. Comment "WATCH" to be sent the full recording. Extract: “So we’re really thinking about, how can we change the context around this young person? How can we make systems and processes interact with them differently? And?quite a lot of that comes from thinking about, how do we change the story about that young person? Where there's a deficit focus, what are their strengths, what are their hopes, what are their aspirations? How do we build on those and use those to address some of our concerns and the risks around these young people? We've been putting all of those ideas into action over the last five years, and we've partnered to date with seven brilliant local authorities who have created SHiFT practices: teams of multidisciplinary teams of highly skilled professionals who work to the SHiFT practice model. They work as part of local authorities which we call an ‘insider-outsider’ approach. We from a national team, support and challenge them to make the work the best that it can be, and also to build that evidence base that we can use to influence broader change.” - Dr Amy Ludlow

A powerful, moving and at times shocking Session Two of the Cityforum Transforming Criminal Justice discussion. Amazing contributions from Max Dennehy, Francis Pakes , Penny Parker , Rev Fiona Sample , Dr Katie Harber and Liz Bridge, Chaired by karyn mccluskey, this panel explored new ideas to deliver reform, with hard-hitting comments from inside the prisons, and from those with lived experience of the system. Even if we solved all the current problems with our prisons and criminal justice system - without a really good resettlement scheme for prison-leavers - rehabilitation and prevention will not be achieved easily. Thanks to the sponsors of this forum: BT Business , Advent eLearning , Allied Universal? Electronic Monitoring , Make Time Count Today , Meganexus and NTT DATA . #criminaljustice #courts #prisons #probation #ministryofjustice #rehabilitation #reform #outofcourtorders
