This week, we are excited to highlight Amanda Gottlieb, our Community Engagement and Social Media Coordinator! Amanda has been a significant part of the Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic team for one year. Her favorite part of the job is knowing that the work we do positively impacts wish kids and their families, as well as collaborating with her coworkers on projects. If Amanda could have one wish, it would be to go on an African safari. Thank you, Amanda, for your enthusiasm and dedication to making wishes come true!
关于我们
Together, we create life-changing wishes for children fighting critical illnesses in Maryland, D.C. and northern Virginia. Founded in 1983, Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic has granted over 11,000 wishes in the Mid-Atlantic region since its inception. This year alone, 840 local children are expected to be diagnosed with a critical illness. However, for every wish granted, at least one local child is waiting. The community has the opportunity to make an impact today by helping Make-A-Wish to reach hundreds of kids whose wishes would go otherwise go unanswered this year. For wish alum Tiara, her health journey has inspired her to give back to others. ?? At just one year old, the DC native required a liver transplant due to a rare condition she was diagnosed with. Her mother made a selfless decision to donate a portion of her liver, giving Tiara a second chance at life. ?? However, after ten years, her liver began to fail again, leading to another transplant that ultimately restored her health. In 2009, shortly after her second transplant, Tiara learned she was eligible for a wish through Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic. Her wish? A Disney cruise with her family. ??? It was a dream come true—an all-inclusive, five-day adventure filled with endless activities, laughter, and joy. For Tiara, it was more than just a trip; it was a chance to experience life as a carefree kid. ?? This transformative experience ignited her desire to give back, leading her to establish the Royalty Transplant Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families facing similar challenges. To read more about Tiara's courageous and inspiring journey, please visit https://lnkd.in/emYhvrFk. ??

We had a wonderful time at the Tower Club Tysons Corner Charity Classic, where we got to experience the power of a wish and the transformative experience a wish has on a child with a critical illness. Thank you to the Tower Club, Nichole Foster, Derek Drew, Brian Roberts, and Eric Glowniak for your continued support of Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic!

Eight-year-old Clyde and his family had a great time watching the Commanders at their Salute to Service gameday. Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic's Operation Dream Maker fund gives hope and joy to the children of our nation's heroes, such as Clyde. We are grateful Clyde and his family were able to have this experience together. Thank you to the Washington Commanders, Chris Bailey, Corinne Weltman, and Valerie Biberaj for your continued dedication to our wish kids! This Touchdown for Wishes season, King Street Oyster Bar is donating $400 to Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic for every touchdown the Washington Commanders score. Watch the game at King Street Oyster Bar tonight and order off the happy hour menu! A percentage of the proceeds will go to Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic. iHeartMedia To support Touchdown for Wishes, please visit tdforwishes.org.

Wish kids have some of the kindest hearts. Like Roslyn, whose wish was to bake cakes for her care team at the hospital. “I’m going to give them to my doctors, because they helped me when I had cancer,” Roslyn said. You can spread kindness by helping grant more wishes for kids like Roslyn. Donate today at wish.org/midatlantic
