We’re kicking into fall with wish kid Landrey. ???? Landrey loves football and dreams of one day becoming a professional player. He does not let his respiratory disorder hold him back from playing the sports he loves, so when he was granted a wish, he knew exactly what he wanted: his very own football field. ?? Local supporters came together to help grant Landrey’s wish. Now, he can play and practice football with his family and friends in the comfort of his backyard – a source of daily joy. “I was so surprised! I really liked it,” Landrey said. ?? Genesis had her heart set on the perfect quincea?era. ?? From the venue and music, to the decorations and her stunning custom dress, her wish was made possible thanks to several community partners. Genesis made a grand entrance with her chambelanes (court of honor) and was the center of attention as she danced with her family to a live mariachi band and Ballet Folklórico. The ballroom was decorated in pink, her favorite color, as well as hundreds of flowers and balloons. The power of teamwork made Genesis’ rite of passage a night to remember. ?? It was a beautiful evening spent at Bonobo Winery in Traverse City with friends of Make-A-Wish Michigan! Traverse City wish kid Kelsie, and her family also joined us! Kelsie shared her wish story when she so selflessly wished to GIVE BACK to other kids in the hospital. Her story moved us as her wish was to provide sick kids with light-up blankets for comfort and warmth when they feel alone or scared of the dark. Special thanks to Kelsie’s family, Jeff Steigerwald, Amber Schilling, Charlie Wondergem, Kendall Meijer, and Bonobo Winery for gathering their friends and family to learn more about our mission and help raise over $12,000 and counting for future wishes! September is National Sickle Cell Awareness month, and we love looking back at this #TBT from wish kid Quincy’s wish trip in 2017. Quincy 9, was diagnosed with sickle cell anemia at birth and wished with go to LEGOLAND California with his family. Quincy's mom Lana noted that just the anticipation of his wish trip motivated him through recovery and propelled him forward in his journey for health. “Make-A-Wish takes you out of the reality of life that can sometimes be really tough, it allows you to just play and pretend. It even allows us adults to be a child for a little while and have some peace at a time when there is rarely much peace.” By supporting Make-A-Wish Michigan, you are helping to transform the lives of children right in your community.
