“There is a spark…a strength, an energy that (wish children) have acquired that allows them to endure certain challenges much more easily” says Dr. Brazzola when asked how a wish being granted can positively influence the healing process of a critically ill child. Doctors and medical professionals are some of our most passionate supporters. They are often the ones referring children for a wish, and witnessing the impact of the wish journey on the children they treat. Dr. Brazzola has been referring children to Make-A-Wish Switzerland for over 10 years. She spends a lot of time confined to her hospital bed, facing isolation when she should be exploring the outside world. If you're a parent, you'll be all too familiar with the back-to-school messaging we're surrounded with at this time of year. For children like Vedant, the option to go back to school is taken away. At just 9 years old, Vedant lives with cancer but dreams of becoming a scientist. He greatly misses his science classes, and therefore wished for a telescope so he can explore the universe through his window.
