Makai’s President & CEO Stephanie Hutch joined fellow NHOs in attending the U.S. Small Business Administration listening session in Honolulu this past Tuesday. The event, hosted by the SBA Hawaii District Office, was part of SBA’s regional Tribal Council and Listening Session series happening across the country.
Acting District Director Mike Arriola and the Hawaii SBA Team hosted a Native Hawaiian Organization listening session in Honolulu today. The session is the latest in a series of Tribal, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian consultations conducted by SBA Office of Native American Affairs Assistant Administrator Jackson Brossy across the country, fulfilling an Executive Order and allowing for constructive dialogue between the SBA and Native communities in the federal procurement space. I'm grateful for being part of tonight's Community Meal at One Bistro in Xenia, OH. It's become my favorite volunteer gig. One Bistro, a non-profit restaurant, provides essential food for the community. The Community Meal takes place every Wednesday, thanks to sponsors and volunteers. If you haven't heard of One Bistro, check it out. I make sure to dine there monthly; the food is fantastic, and their mission is even better! Dayton-Wright Chapter of AFCEA Emerging Leaders, Amelia Fisher & Joshua Bisgaard, ensured an abundance of volunteers for the event. Carl "Shof" Shofner, reportedly the best dishwasher, was accompanied by an excellent helper tonight. Joni Ahlers excelled in serving; her expertise didn't come as a surprise. While I can't tag all the volunteers here, they were a joy to work with, and I look forward to seeing them at future AFCEA events. Oh, I almost forgot about Dr. Jeffrey Clark but at least I saved him a seat this time ??
