Makai employees were happy to attend the formal kickoff of the Partnership Intermediary Agreement (PIA) between Hanscom AFB and the UMass-Lowell Advanced Research Center (UMLARC) on January 31st, 2025. Speakers at this special celebration included Massachusetts Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, Massachusetts Congresswoman Lori Trahan, UMass President Marty Meehan, UML Chancellor Julie Chen, and MG “Augie” Genatempo. They emphasized the importance of this PIA in moving technology forward in support of the defense of our nation. A PIA is a unique mechanism that enables a long-term partnership to facilitate technology transfer to and between non-federal entities and the transition of essential technologies back to the federal government. This agreement represents our combined efforts and vision for a collaborative future. This PIA is also an important element of growing the Lowell Innovation Network Corridor.
